Tonight the Fencibles are playing Cowpens with our house rules set. We could have waited until I could field all of the actual units. But since I haven't added any AWI units since 2003 or so that would mean we would not play at all. So instead we have understudies. The 23rd Fusiliers are playing the part of the 7th Fusiliers. Not so bad yet, eh? OK, Brusnwick musketeers are playing the part of Tarleton's Legion foot. If that didn't make you gag, the part of Tarleton's Legion horse is being played by scruffy mounted riflemen. My only defense is these figure are Frying Pan & Blanket, nothing else matches their size (true 20mm) and FP&B does not make Tarleton's Legion. Hmm, Eureka's 18mm are close. If they start making AWI
So – would you play in this game or would you prepare the bonfire? Cue Dinah Shore singing, "See the USA in your auto da fe". |

I wouldn't have a problem with it as long as they are similar in appearance or if the majority of your tabletop forces are correct. (for example, I wouldn't use CSA Confederates to stand in for troops in tricorns, but would use AWI and SYW British interchangeably) We refought Prestonpans 1745 recently and did a lot of heavy substitution, with British SYW Highlander regiments changing sides and fighting for the Jacobites. Some American Provincials in blue stood in for French regulars. We had 2 or 3 actual Jacobite highlander units in the game. |

For this evening's performance, the role of Colonel John Eager Howard will be played by Bad "Lazy" Painter and the role of Banastre Tarleton will be played by his understudy, Satan. |

A die roll determines if Tom or I am Satan? Get the flint ready – I see a church full of civilians
Perhaps I should break out siege guns instead of the Grasshoppers

"In tonight's presentation of Guilford Courthouse, the part of the Second Battalion of Guards will be played by the 64th Regiment of Foot." |

Argh. I was Tarleton. Breaking rocks in the hot sun, I fought the Rebs and the Rebs won. More details tomorrow, possibly Wednesday since Tom took a lot of photos. |

Is everyone on this thread (except me) playing in said game? |

Yes. It was in all the papers. |

That was "Brokeback King's Mountain", and no one likes to talk about that. |
