Hi all,
I am preparing some figures and terrain for Future Wars/Combat Zone gaming, and I would really like to include some appropriately scaled civilian vehicles as scenery. I was hoping there might be some line of die-cast toys that might work (hopefully cheap-ish) but as I have no knowledge of any products like this. I live in the states (Florida) and am wondering where to start. Does this warrent a trip to Walmart, or should I look online? Any knowledge you wish to share about manufactureres and lines that would work with 28mm would be greatly appreaciated!

Many thanks,
Jason

Toys R Us has "Fastlane" 1:40ish diecast.

Walmart carries "Kid Connection".

If you want scifi cars in scale you should look at GZG's resins.

Hotwheels has a several plastic in scale pieces that are oddly enough containers for candy. I find that drugstores tend to carry these. Walgreens is a good place to start looking. They are quite nice.

The old Grenadier Future Wars line had nice resin pieces. I think Scotia/Grendel carries them now.

If you get the collector's set for Blade Runner, there is a supposedly in scale "spinner" air car that looks fantastic. Occasionally you can find just the car for sale on Ebay.

Wow, good leads. Thanks!

The advantage of actually visiting a toy shop is that you can take a figure with you to see how sizes look. There tends not to be much useful information in on-line toy sales.

I second Steve – ordering online can result in some disappoinment- the scale on the bottom of the car is often straight up wrong.

go to Walgreens and look inthe candy section.
Hot Wheels has a few futuristic looking corvetes filled with sweet tart candies.
The Hot Wheel logos are on a plastic wrap and easily removed.
The cars look in scale with 28mm figs. (nothing is ever an exact fit but these do not look out of place)
there are several differnt models.
as a bonus, they are cheap =)

I do not know if you can get them in the US but in the UK there is a range of Batman car's by Corgi. There's lots of difaret types including a Robin car (I think there all from cartoons or comic's) and others. I have a batman car and Robin car both go very well with Em4's Future Wars figs. I hope this helps.

They have at least a few of the 1:43 Corgi Batmobiles. No Robin car, and most of them would need a repaint to really pass as civilian vehicles.

Yard sales or Carage sales are a great source for all of the above cheap. Who cares if its dinging, don't we repaint it and glue on guns and stuff anyway?

:)
Good Luck

Post some cool pics when you've got your guntruks painted up.

Not sure if they have Rite Aid in Florida, but the ones near me keep a tall square rack of mid-size toy cars next to the ice cream counter. When I'm through there I frequently pick them up and wish I had a figure with me for comparison; you can tell they're not all the same scale, but some would work okay.
