Quick question, Ive noticed Essex 25mm thracian peltasts have a large shield as opposed to the more normal crescent shaped peltast shield. Is this accurate and if so at what period was this shield used??

It is a shield known as a thureos from the Hellenistic period, post Alexander, ca 300 BC and later, and (probably) demonstrates Galatian influence. I have a bunch of these guys, with rhomphaia.

Antother point, even in period not all Thracian peltasts carried a cresent shield.
