Looking for recomendations for US Paras in 28mm……Got a crazy plan to collect a company worth of all airborne units from ww2…….

Bolt Action has just released some gorgeus US Paras!!

Artizan have an excellent range

You can't go wrong with Artizan or BAM. Artizan has better selection right now, but BAM's will grow if you're willing to wait. The two are perfectly mixable, so you can get both. BAM's helmets have better camouflage.

Also, there are many who like Victory Force, and they have a large selection, but their minis are noticeably taller and I would not mix them with Artizan and BAM.

If you perfer true scale, like 1/48, you can wait for Fox miniature's planned WWII line. Don't know how long they'll make you wait though but the prototype figures look gorgeous. If you can't wait, Northstar also carries US Airborne in 1/48 right now.

Bolt Action.

Bolt Action without a doubt.
And while you're at it, pick up their Fallschirmjager and certainly the Italian Folgore as well for your collection.

Artizan has some really nice figures but I feel the detail on Bolt Action figures is just a lot more realistic.

I can only say what I said in another tiopic yesterday… Take a look at Victory Force minis:

victoryforce.com

They have the best detail and historical accuracy out there. Poses are anatomically correct, the customers service is second to none and you actually get a say in future minis via the Yahoo group!

Regarding mixability… I have some of the latest Artizan minis and they are they same hight as Victory Force, so that would not be a problem either!

Cheers,

Burkhard

The Artizan range is definitive in my opinion.

I prefer VF, but Artizan and Bolt Action are very good too!

I have Artizan which were pretty good. I picked up some BAM at Salute and they are pretty good too. So I'll be using both BAM and Artizan.

All the choices given so far are good – I have VFM and really like the sculpting & accuracy down to the smallest detail. You can see the "US" on the .45 holster. v/r, Dean

Oh, and if you want US unit patches – you can't go wrong with "Company B" decals – last time I checked they had 82nd & 101st, as well as enlisted/NCO rank. Excellently reproduced.

I think I would go insane trying to work with decals that small. I am all thumbs when it comes to working with decals.

"…I would go insane trying to work with decals that small." but it sure beats trying to paint the same grin

Those victory force ones are lovely…..what size are they?…..are they bigger or smaller than BAM and artizan?

DeanMoto10 May 2008 4:57 p.m. PST

Here's Comte du Flandre's site with good comparison shots & reviews of most "28mm" WW2 makes link

Artizan seem to be getting a bit larger though. I got some of their latest Wehrmacht minis and they stand exactly as tall as do the VFM.

Burkhard

Morgrim,

The VFM figures are lovely…and wait until you see them in real life!

To answer your question, I'd say that they are "heroic 28mm"…call them about 30mm. The "slotta base" makes them even bigger…but you can cut that off and base them on washers/coins if you want.

I _love_ them. They're the only brand I have for WW2.
