Hi, I see that Eureka 100 Club has some Saxon Cavalry.

Now I an interested in SYW Austrians.

I know that once Frederick defeated the Saxons he took over the infantry and eventually incorporated them into the Prussia Army.

But some Saxon Cavalry managed to join the Austrians and fight for them.
Now to my knowledge, three Saxon Chevauxleger Regts: Prinz Karl; Prinz Albrecht and Graf Bruhl fought with the Austrians.
Hope this is correct. If it is could someone direct me to uniform plates (I will look at Alte Fritz for sure). Kronoskaf had unit standards.
Eureka 100 has Bruehl troops which it is producing with a distinctive hat, is this the Graf Bruhl unit?

Were there any Saxon Cuirassier or Hussar Regts that fought with the Austrians ?

Eureka is also making Polish Uhlans, which I read were hired out to Saxony and fought with the Austrians. What Unit and where could I find uniform references?

Lots of questions? Thanks for your help.

I would also check out Ioannis' "Leuthen Journal" website to see if he has any Saxon uniform plates on line.

AFAIK, the Saxon Caribiniers fought at Kolin and the rest of the Saxon cavalry were the various cheveauleger regiments of dragoons. You could use French cavalry to depict these units.

As for the von Bruhl regiment, the distinctive cap/mitre was only worn by the light/elite company within the regiment. The rest of the von Bruhls wore a tricorn.

The Osprey book on Kolin has a plate of the Saxon regiments at Kolin, on page 38. The Karabiniers wore a cuirass under the coat. I don't think that the Eureka curassiers will have coats. If not, my Karabiniers will have forgotten theirs.

and , according to some good authorities, not worn after 1748.
