Hi Friends, I'm interested in RCW in 28mm. What's about Russian action Rules by Perfect Captain? What's about basing system and unit strenght? I don't like single base figures and casualties removal, I love multiple figs. stands like little dioramas (3 or 4 figs.). Thanks for help. |

We use Red Actions for our RCW games and enjoy it very much. We base our figs individually (so they can be used for skirmish and other game systems), but then base platoons of three figs each into companies. Join their yahoo group and find out more! Very knowledgeable and helpful people. |

Red Actions does have base removal casualties, but it is an infrequent part of the game -- most shooting results in morale effects. If you base three 28mm infantry to a base, then your bases will be quite wide in comparison to the standard 1" in the rules. Without being too prescriptive about this, unless you "scale up" the movement and ranges and play on quite large tables, that is likely to distort the game. The main problem is that with wide frontages your units will take up most of the table, which limits the amount of manoeuvre possible. If this results in units wall to wall then you aren't really playing much of the RCW -- because wall-to-wall units were a distinct rarity. So I would recommend 3 figures to a base (say on 40mm or 1-1/2 inch frontage) and scaling up the inches in the rules to 40mm. Then play on big tables. If you want lots of 25mm figures on a normal table, then early WWI is a better fit. |
