I'm trying to find a copy of this book. It was published back in the late 60's and is either a compilation of three stories about cops in a future where every car is the size of a bus and the interstates are like the autobahn, or just three connected stories. I had a copy back then but lent it to my neighbor, who was a cop, and he lent it to his friends and I never saw it again. I recall it being a pretty good yarn. Does anyone know who wrote it? Or where I could get a copy? |

Not sure about a compilation, but at least one story (by that name--"Code Three") appeared in Analog, February 1963; by the now almost forgotten Hugo award nominee Rick Raphael. Available online as an e-book on many sites, including: link gutenberg.org/etext/19111 There may be more than the one story in the 1965 volume available here (and probably elsewere): link The story was also reprinted in Baen's collection "The World Turned Upside Down": link link That should get you started! This may also be helpful, and the novel (?) published in 1966 may well be what you once had: link Allen |

Thanks Allen, that's what I was looking for. The Analog story was a short that made up the first three chapters of the novel. |

Analog stories have a long, though scattered, tradition of "growing up" into larger works. The story was also reprinted in Baen's collection "The World Turned Upside Down" An excellent collection, by the way. |

Rick Raphael's "Code Three" came out in paperback about three years ago latest English edition with a Chris Foss cover IIRC, so it is probably available through one or other Amazon.com – Not sure that it is complete, as there were other stories involved in the saga Rapheal was writing about the future of transport and crime. |

Love the book – hate the sad ending though. In some ways the ending is so correct to the way the transport system is heading (both real life and fiction) but I really grown to like the characters and wanted them to live happy every after. |
