I've recently been "converted" to this site as a great way to meet local gamers (and people into other hobbies, as well): meetup.com Just search for a group in your area, or start one. It provides a good set of user management tools and has helped me hook up with some great people here in Houston. Take a gander at it, I think you'll like it. |

I tried it a couple times in the past, no great success. Of course posting the meetup url for your event "might" help |

Can you find girl gamers? ;)

"Girl gamers"? What's that? I've about decided that when the old gamers are all dead, so will my gaming be. Maybe I will go before they do, then, same thing. |

Ahhh, the myth of the Girl Gamer. It's nice to see that the legend endures! :-) I suspect it works better in Houston because it's such a big city, but it should still work. This is a cool tool and if you are looking for players this is probably more effective than Yahoo Groups. |

Girl Gamers are rare but they exist, but only in role-playing not miniatures, because in RPG's you get to express your feeeeelings. : P |

I saw a fetching girl gamer playing an airwar (2WW) game at a convention many years ago. She sure as hell distracted me. And I was told later that she was a deliberate plant to sabotage the attention of a particular local gamer who had acquired his "ace" pilots with a singular lack of integrity: the ploy worked, as his "ace" pilot in that game was shot down. Not by the girl, as I recall, but by her boyfriend, who got on the tail of the distracted gamer. So that was not per se a genuine case of a girl WARgamer, or miniatures gamer I should say. She was there "on a mission." haha |
