Hi, I have been giving some thought to a colonial project for late this year -after I finish my IWI project, which is going faster than I foresaw!- and Zulu War came to mind. For the Zulus I will use BTD or Redoubt, but I am not totally convinced by the British of those companies. I was wondering if some codes of the Perry twins Sudan range could be used for the Zulu War or the uniform is too different. Thanks in advance. |

Just compare the pictures and probably you'll notice enough differences, but it's up to you. I use BTD British infantry and I love them. They are well sculpted and the detail is easy to paint. But look anywhere else for cavalry, and avoid the newer codes without pictures. BTD guys are more or less as tall as a GW human, so they're bigger that Perry's. |

The Perry figures are close but the trousers are un-bloused, they have pugrees instead of plain helmets & the sleeves are plain without braid.I like both BTD & Redoubt British for the Zulu War. Old Glory are decent as well. |

I use BTD. I have painted other brands, and I still favor BTD. Hoepfully they will add some British without tunics to give a little more flavor, color bearer and other such types. And some real lancers. On some of their newer packs the Glengarry cap is missing the 2 black ribbon tails in the rear. Bad quality control I guess. |

I also like BTD British infantry, BUT under no circumstances order their really a-historically scrawny and lame 7 and 9 pounder cannon. There's a good reason the website photos hide the gun barrels. They are dookie. |

What's wrong with Foundry's Zulu War British? Sculpted by the Perrys, accurate in the details, and including excellent artillery models. Of course, if you're having to buy them *now*, I do see that downside. Allen |

Thanks for the advice! Then I will order one pack of BTD, one of Redoubt and one Foundry blister to check which one I will select. It is curious that beside Perry's Sudan no company looks give any attention in 28mm to Colonial figures

Are you joking? There are dozens of companies making 28mm colonials. Start here: link The list is getting out of date, but it's a great starting place. Try link for more guidance. |

I'd like to reinforce Chicklewis' warning about the Black Tree 9 and 7 pounders. The carriages are fine but the barrels are way, way too thin! |
