Dust Tactics will be a prepainted 32 mm miniature game using similar mechanics to Rackham's AT-43(though it will not be play-balanced against At-43 units). It will be in 32mm. Some of the walker designs were shown at Gama a few weeks ago an can be found on Jay Adan's Flickr page. link link link link One of the sculpters has a preview of a figure in his blog. link Paolo's Dust site has a few samples as well. dust-game.com/en/?p=32 |

Why, o frikkin' why can't they stick to established scales? Even if they're a little fluid? |

Paolo's site hasn't change in forever and I pretty much gave up on it. Their is no activity on their forums other then from the fans so it's pretty limited. Hope the line is support better then the official site. Brian |

Well 32mm is pretty close to heroic 28mm and someone has already told me that AT-43 is actually 35mm. Anyway it's AT-43 scale. Dust Tactics isn't really "new" news but I didn't see a topic on it in either CMG's or Weird War 2 and thought maybe some people may not have seen it. |

Judging by the human faction of AT-43, the game is basically somewhere in the 28-30mm range. I just grabbed and measured a bunch of my UNA figures, and their eyes were in that range. Robots can be any size, so the Therians are not a good measuring proof. Nor are the gorilla / Karmans. Don't have any Red Blok (more humans) but assume they are the same size as the UNA. If Dust is shooting for 35mm and that means to top of head, then they will be a bit large compared to UNA humans. Finicky people won't mix the two, others will probably think it's close enough to be okay to mix. If it means to eye-level they will be giants (okay, perhaps basketball players compared to normal folks). And they will look silly mixed together, unless they are supposed to be a race from another world. Like mainly28s, I sure wish companies would stick to a scale that would make their minis easy to mix with other brands. The difference between 25m and 28mm didn't used to be all that much, but then 28s became heroic 28s which meant more like 30mm, and then companies started to sculpt to the 32mm range. Scale creep! I can afford to back one pre-painted plastics game, and I have, AT-43. I like the minis, and can use them for other games too. I wish Dust well
having more companies enter the pre-painted plastics marketplace is a good thing. |

The way I see it as long as the vehicles come out I'll be happy. I can find plenty of uses for the walakers |

I just got out a ruler to check the two figures I have with me right now. (Ignoring the base) Sergeant Timofeyeva is between 31 and 32mm eye levl. She is standing fairly straight. Sergeant Borz is at 32mm eye level but he is crouching. This link shows two Steel troopers and three Star troppers that are about 32mm when crouching. 35mm might be a pretty good call foreye height when standing up straight. Again, in this picture the bases are ignored. picture |

If they are readily available, I'll buy some DUST figures and machines. If I have to order from Europe (and pay through the nose for postage) forget it! |

Dust, as a setting, is not JUST about enhanced WW2 hardware. It also has zombies and apparently a certain amount of gravity defying, silly, ninja flipping stuff. At times it seems rather satyrical and campy. |

They might fit in with the North Star Projekt X line

This is actually what I had wanted out of AT-43, before it 'branched off' of DUST in the first place. Walking panzers are cool! |

DUST Tactis will see the light of day in December. The first production miniatures were showen at GAMA you can see two of the figures on the AE-WWII forum: link The game will use the same rules system as AT-43 and yes you will be able to mix miniatures between the ranges aka DUST miniatures and stats will be usable in AT-43 and vise versa. And the DUST walkers ROCK!!!!! Cheers, Robert |

CMG? I equate that label with "random packaging" far more than with "pre-painted". |
| palaeoemrus | 08 May 2008 12:38 p.m. PST |
The miniaturespage has a description for the CMG board that reads as follows: " For discussion of anything related to pre-painted plastic figures and wargaming." Dust is both Weird War 2 and CMG so I cross posted to those boards in the hopes that the news would find an appropriate audience that may not have heard about Dust: tactics yet. I waited a few days and didn't see a poston this and I figured not everybody follows TGN or other boards and that this might excite some of those people who like plastics and Weird War 2 genre games. I thought I was doing a good thing. If I rocked the boat or ruined the soup then I'm sorry. |

Ah. Hadn't realized prepaints had been lumped in like that. No harm, no foul. |
