I was digging around in my many assorted bits storage devices yesterday.

I like to "shift" items of interest, bits, weapons, figure, parts whatever into my "interesting" box. A nice cheap wooden cigar box my wife found for me that I use as a mobile workstation/cutting board.

I was looking into the bottom of the box at all the older things that I have been playing around with for ages and decided to make some use of them.

As I began working I decided to try and make use of figures, parts from different companies.

First up, and most tedious was the man himself;
The explorer was based off a Space wolf lord I believe.

I hated the torso and head, and wolf pelt stuff so hours of cutting and filing later I managed to clean it up enough to use a standard space marine torso. A PP loose head with goggle made a suitability appropriate choice.

For the backpack I wanted to avoid using the standard tech marine backpack so I made my own.
The back pack was made of a 2nd ed backpack base with a part of a chaos marine special character's backpack.

A stolen plastic gorkamorka hand(only one meaty enough to match the first)was added and a the tech marine power axe.

To hide some of the gouged away areas he got a few dark angel plastic bits… Heresy for the fluff people on a space wolf bases I know.

I am getting ready to add a green stuff tabard to cover the last of the fur and help match up the waist properly.

I will be greenstuffing a gear to replace the skull on the chest too.

Every good scientist need a few henchmen and he is no exception.
A trained lab monkey(Reaper) wielding a converted power-halberd.
and his ever faithful hunchedback minion.
A mordhiem dreg was the base with a ERM Corporate Slick arm added and bits from a warzone backpack to "tech" him up a bit more.

Personal security is always an issue when your "finding" alien technology so a security team is needed.

Two Imperial Guardsmen with Peter Pig heads make a good start.

A bit more punch comes from a free Merc with a bolter. He started life as a Warzone Capitol Orca driver. A couple of chaos marine arms and bolter rounded him up. I am greenstuffing the shoulder pads to match the kneepads and tie the parts togeather.

Lastly a local guide to help you out and help explain your not stealing the natives sacred items, you are merely trying to study them.
I found a classic marine scout(the Mohawk ones) that was missing his arms. 2 cadian arm replacements and a Hasslefree head finish this guide quite nicely.

The parts were taken from;
GW(40k, necromunda, gorkamorka, and mordhiem)
Peter Pig
Reaper
Warzone
Hasslefree
Privateer Press

I still have a bit of greenstuff work to do, making a few more 2-3 IG security personnel in the same style and then then paint the group up.

As always I am interested in any feedback, thanks.

Actually, those IG minis have heads made by Pig Iron productions, not Peter Pig :)

Oops,

My mistake! :)

Nice selection of figures. Wouldn't an Adeptus Mechanicus have several servitors/automatons under his command? A secretary/assistant for taking notes would be nice, as well.

Pretty cool stuff, thanks for sharing dzt, I would like to see more people run articles like this.

He would, but I only work in small group or I never get them done.
The servitors/tech group is partially prepped but thats it… Plus I wanted to talk about them later.
They include, pitfighters with magnetized arms to swap weapons, servitors, and a recovered early Tau failed system.

I got the green stuff work done on the team other than the gear symbol on the Explorers chest. After 3 attempts to sculpt it and 3 silly daisy looking things later I said it looks better without the symbol :)

I'll be getting them undercoated tonight and perhaps some base paint on them. I'll be posting pics of the completed figures and the WIP shots of the others probably tomorrow.
