Hi guys, Just a 'heads-up' to a new company offering terrain mats from Ireland. matowar.com/catalog/index.php We offer mats in 'grass' and 'desert' in a variety of sizes. At the present time we can only ship to the UK and Europe but we hope to able to ship to the USA as soon as we can find a way cheap enough! Anyway
Take a look and see what you think! And finally a link to the NGC gaming group who recently played their 'Big Game' on one of our mats
link Thanks for taking the time to read this
I hope its posted in the right place! |

They look nice. A few close-ups, maybe with a figure or two to help scale would be nice. The "click to enlarge" on your site give the same picture, not enlarged. |

Thanks Saber6! We are working on a set of pics with 6mm, 10mm, 15mm, 20mm and 28mm figures on the mats to show how they work with the various size models. |

You might consider becoming a TMP Sponsoring Member, and *then* advertising your products. Allen |

Rather bad form, is all. If you'd sent a News item to Bill, he would have published it. Bill will cheerfully anounce products even from folks who maintain they aren't selling them! But his rules generally restrict selling to the Marketplace and Exchange boards, on which Basic Members cannot initiate threads. (Unless you're a painting service, or a FOB)
And around here lately, there's litlle mercy for those what breaks Bill's rules. The ones that exist on any given day, that is. So be careful! Allen |

Look interesting, I'd certainly take a close look if you did an 'urban' mat, and possibly a 'snow' one. |

Sorry Allen
Our apologies
We are new here so didnt realise that this was not the 'done thing. Apologies, and if the thread should be deleted feel free. How do we go about submitting a 'news story'? alien BLOODY HELL surfer, We are testing a grey urban mat
The guys at NGC used one for a game but Im unsure as to how it looks to be honest
There are some pics of it here
link be interested to know what you think as the jury is still out on it over here. We are looking at a snow mat at the moment
Just waiting for the samples in fact! Thanks for the interest. |

Don't worry Mat O' War, Allen is just our resident curmudgeon. Feel free to ignore him. A lot of us do when he gets all grumpy like. Nice product by the way, and welcome to TMP. What is the material? Is it short static grass or some kind of cloth? I like the color and tone, and the size is what I would need
Hopefully you can ship stateside at some point. |

How do we go about submitting a 'news story'? In the Hobby News area: TMP link I kinda know what Allen means. If you're going to promote your company/wares on here, you ought to chump up for your pretty green badge :-) Geoff |

First, as others have pointed out: Closeups would be nice. The "big" picture is just the same small picture opened in a new window, and you can't make out anything in it. Second: Please state shipping costs. You have to have some idea how much it costs to send a mat inside the UK or Europe (I'm in Sweden BTW). If it varies from country to country, some examples at least would be helpful. Third: your pricing seems odd. The small mat is 2 meters by 2.5, i.e. 5 square meters, for 40 euros. That makes the price 8 euros per square meter. The large mat is 2x3 meters, that is 6 square meters. It costs 50 euros, which is 8.33 euros per square meter. Not a big difference, granted, just seemed a bit illogical to me. |

Oh, and welcome :-) Don't be put off if I seem negative, I'm just interested and want to know more

I would be VERY interested in two grey mats. I've been looking for some for some time to do urban conflicts (WWII, WWI and Sci-Fi). Erik |

"What is the material? Is it short static grass or some kind of cloth? I like the color and tone, and the size is what I would need
" It is a knitwoven material. Very much like static grass but utterly durable. We even offer a guarantee on the life of the product. Every fibre is woven into the backing so you get no bits coming off. It can be folded and rolled with retaining any creases. To test it I drove a car over my mat
Once I brushed the dirt off it was fine! We hope to ship to the USA ASAP! We are looking into that after we sort out our TMP sponsorship! ;-) But we think we maybe able to get round it by shipping them folded instead of rolled as we do with Europe. As they dont hold creases there will be no lasting marks or folds. "Second: Please state shipping costs." It does. On the front page. At the moment we only charge €5.00 EUR to ship ANYWHERE in Europe. As for questions regarding pricing
I will have to await my business partners input on that as he has structured the pricing! "I would be VERY interested in two grey mats." Drop us an email and we can send you some
We have them in stock. |

I got a sample in the mail and can add they are realy nice mat. The material is similar to felt but more stiff and more dense. The stiffness is a bit of downside as it doesn't fall over table edges like a piece of cloth, something I have noticed with other comercially available felt mats in the past. Also it is best stored rolled up as you get folds if you store it folded up. I don't know if the material can be ironed but I assume it is no problem. The good things are they are realy durable and will stand even heavy handling without any problems. The colour of the green mat is very close to Noch static grass and can be enhanced using an airbrush or drybrush techniques. If you throw some additional flock on it you get a suprisingly realistic appearance. It's realy a very nice colour. From durability and appearance they are the best mats I have seen so far. |
