You should buy some :)

When you order them from Hasslefree, tell them "Orctrader forced me to buy them"

The keen-eyed observer will note how I have used the WW1 Razzle-Dazzle, "Disruptive Pattern" camo pattern. I'm going through my "Cubist" phase as a painter. :) Now I have started this ball rolling, feel free to use this and other camo patterns on your newly purchased Grymn, which are brilliant little figures to paint…or have I already mentioned that?

Very cool! dazzles the eye. I love the Grymns looking foward to Kev's new ones due out soon

Warbeads07 May 2008 3:17 a.m. PST

Three with camo, three without. Brilliant! That should confuse the Space Orcs enough to make them miss!

Gracias,

Glenn

I'm looking forward to painting mine too. I liked the non-helmeted versions better. I plan on using them for Necromunda, as the Van Squaats!

x42brown07 May 2008 4:41 a.m. PST

I use them as my planetary defence force. Beautiful minis but for a large force they have too much character. Each (even the ones with closed helmets) have so much individuality that it is difficult to have multiples of the same figure in the army. A case of them being too good for the purpose but too good not to use.

Thats an inersting view x42brown… i think i know what you mean. I certainly dont use the same figure twice in the same unit, but i do have some duplicates.

mweaver07 May 2008 5:35 a.m. PST

I have a few, but have not painted them yet.

x42brown07 May 2008 5:39 a.m. PST

I have many duplicates. A 3,000+ points 40k army all beautiful, if poorly painted, minis but the feeling is there that something more mundane for the rank and file would have been easier to make the army look right. Say officered by the present range with something of lower character for the rank and file.

I guess I'd better hurry up with the multipart generic troops then, hadn't I?

(And thanks, Malcolm :-D )

Brandlin07 May 2008 6:58 a.m. PST

yes hasslefriesian (kev) you should… but no hurry… YESTERDAY will do !

alien BLOODY HELL surfer07 May 2008 7:14 a.m. PST

Kev, if I too say just how wonderful your figures are can I get a discount? ;-p

Kev's new aliens are really cool, I'm going to use mine as 'tunneling slaves' for my Spug army (another range of great figures!). Can't find them on the site, they are in the new for Salute images here on the TMP news post though.

Sorry, Aliensurfer, but Sally only allows my one freelance pimp at a time :)

Jedispice07 May 2008 8:35 a.m. PST

Awesome camo. At first I thought the leader was holding a mug of beer though, talk about racial prejudice on my behalf *lol*

alien BLOODY HELL surfer07 May 2008 2:25 p.m. PST

No probs Kev – could have been worse, you could have wanted me as your gimp :-(

Don't forget to do them in plastic, you know plastic is the new metal this year :)

Hasslefriesian08 May 2008 1:29 a.m. PST

Plastic would be an option if I had a spare £50,000+ :)

I'm surprised to hear that gamers are reluctant to use large Grymn forces because "they are too good."

I'm a mere painter, but I would think it would be ideal to use even the existing Grymn range for quite a large force by using different paint schemes. (Go to the Hasslefree site and check out the gallery to see what others have done if you need some ideas.)

Rank and file. Split them into "regiments" with khaki or brown uniforms and dark green armour. Officers could be the same but distinguished with some simple arm band.

Each "regiment" has a slightly different look by using your base colours in different ways. Some are all brown, others, all green.

Grymn with helmets, even more variety.

Then, for your specialist forces, use some camouflage. Mixed, like the squad I painted to give the impression of new, just out equipment, or "final years of the war" feel, where equipment is in short supply.

And maybe some "guard" or elite units. "The Black Guard" would be easy to paint. Dark grey uniform with black "shadow." Blue/black armour.

Lots of duplicates; (slightly) different paint schemes with common bases would look really impressive on the table :)

Hey Kev 15mm Grymn? Any chance?

Brandlin09 May 2008 3:06 a.m. PST

Hey Kev 15mm Grymn? Any chance?

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

dont change scales – that'd be a disaster… besides most of the grymn are onl;y around 22mm ayway – use them in 15mm as ogres!

Hasslefriesian09 May 2008 4:43 a.m. PST

Probably not 15mm. 6mm? Now you're talking! I might even get the tank finished :)

Lerchey11 May 2008 7:23 p.m. PST

I'd definitely buy them in 6mm. Lots of them. :)

infojunky12 May 2008 12:52 p.m. PST

I don't want him to change scales just branch out a little for those of use who don't do 28mm.

Just Kev's got such a clean style that would translate to 15mm so beautifully.

I'd buy some in 6mm too….

Hey, I just realized I have been asking the wrong question!

Hey Kev! How much would it take to get you to produce 4 or 5 Grymn in 15mm? With the proviso that I don't want the IP or the production rights, just to sculpt and put into production for purchase.

OrcTrader12 May 2008 1:46 p.m. PST

15mm? Just buy the ones he has now. And paint them. They liked to be painted ;)

infojunky13 May 2008 7:56 p.m. PST

OrcTrader, I am not looking for giants for my other guys to fight. And I have to many out scale figures already, thus the request for properly scaled figures.

Insomniac14 May 2008 6:54 a.m. PST

Grymn too good to collect as an army?

RUBBISH.

I love them to bits and have over two hundred and still want more.
