Hi Mates who is playing Battlelore and how is it going? Are you just using the offical battles or those from the palyers too? Cheers Mike |

I've played a few of the scenarios, but mostly I use the rules with my 28mm fantasy figures, on the tabletop, with each reference to "hex" changed to "6-inch increment". |

I and my 8 year old son are about to play. I've used the official battles, a couple from players, and a few from the battle generation set, whatever that was called. Going well. And the boy can beat me occasionally, if he's got dwarves. They're bold so he doesn't have to sweat the deployment. |

Richard Borg the designer had a booth next to mine at recon in Orlando last weekend. We talked about interest levels and what was in the pipeline. Always a nice guy. |

I played it when it first came out, but haven't played much lately. Personally, I think Memoir 44 is a better game (it is simpler and plays quicker) so I play that more. |

Personally torn between Battlelore, M'44, and Commands and Colors: Ancients. They're all my favorites for varying if fundamentally similar reasons. |

CnC napoleonics ? Well I played in a very large Napoleonics game useing BattleCry Mechanics more than a decade ago. Two levels of Cavalry, ranged rifle fire, Swords count as Kills only when in an adjacent hex as well as many other neat concepts. It was pitched to Hasbro USA who kicked it to Hasbro UK but they declined to get it. |

I am really happy with Battlelore. I wish I had more time to play it, but that is another matter. LLC aka Ron |

Just to clarify what I meant lol.. Richard Borg mentioned at the end of 2006 that we should look for a Napoleonics version using the C&C/Memoir/BattleCry/BattleLore system sometime late in 2007. I was wondering what happened to it. |

Played it today with my nephew who is in town. We used the scenario which introduces magic ("Lore"). Enjoyable battle, close up to the end. I had 5 captures, he had 4, but was well set to slam my very weakened forces, when a lucky shot from my archers— using one die— took out a lone cavalry unit and gave victory to me. I did notice one thing in playing the game: the "Battlelore" command card is treated as having the same importance as the "All Out Offensive" card in Battle Cry, but is a much weaker card. Not only does it max out at 5 or 6 units ordered (depending on your command level), you may not even get to move all of these. With a command rating of 5, I only got to move 3 units with the card. That's just a glorified Attack card, and though while admittedly I was unrestricted as to *where* the units were, I was limited by the color assignment based on the die roll. Seems like a lame pay out for the "deck reset" card to have. :-P. But maybe playtesting showed the AOO card was too powerful. Still, it is a fun game, and the magic is a nice touch. |
