Hi since i dont game in a games workshop, i can use whatever figures i like and since old glory sell 10 mounted figures for £21.00 GBP this is obviously much cheeper than the corresponding unit cost from games workshop. so my question is what Polish Commonwealth troops do i use for what (also do the old glory packs come with command figures). my thoughts are WINGED HUSSARS (TWO WINGS)for the gryphon legion winged hussars (one wing) for regular lancers, but the rest i am unsure of. i will need light horse archers, aswell as troops with carbines/ pistols. So can anyone point me in the right direction. the problem with this notion is that i have no way of making heros, wizards etc, which is why i am still thinking of going down the expensive gw route. thanks again jon |

Haven't got a link right now but have look at Warcrow miniatures. They've got a couple of kislev like characters. Also isn't one of the factions in the warmachine range quite eastern european (khador? I Think) of course both those (or any other fantasy ranges) might not be any cheaper than GW :) (another) Jon |

Tartars will provide your horse archers, Dragoons are mounted with carbines. You may also want to check out The Assault Group- they have a Polish hetman you could use as a hero. Rich |

If you're trying to match the Old Glory historical figures to the Warhammer rules/Kislev army, then you could pick either one or two winged hussars. Each pack comes with a command figure and either a kettledrummer or bugler. As far a light cavalry, I'd check out the Wallachian or other eastern cavalry
tartars will work but the other figures would give you more variety. Although the Assault Group figures are nice, if price is driving your decision you won't do better than Old Glory. db |

Thanks that is essentially what i am trying to, match the list to historical figures, i don't mind one or two expenisive figures for my characters etc as the rest of the force will be relitively cheep. how well do old glory and TAG mix, i also think that foundry do some aswell do they mix. thanks and keep the info comming jon |

I'm going to use my WAB (Foundry) Imperial Romans for High Elves. It gives my army double-duty and a kind of fun thing to do. They don't look quite so cheesy, but I will have to provide labels for my opponent. I can't do all unit types, but quite a few! |

I agree, the OG Renaissance line is one of their best, and the winged hussars are good. I'm GW ignorant: what is kislev? |

I found it. Sort of Russo-Polish fantasy? |

Look at Old Glory's Cossacks as well; quite nice figures, really. Also, look at OG's pancerni cavalry, and their other historical figure lines. You'd be amazed IMHO at how much variety OG has to choose from when building a fantasy human army

Old Glory also has a 25mm "Cossack Wars" line that you might find useful. |
