Hi what would the list suggest as a suitable set of rules for 15mm sci-fi skirmish ? I'm thinking 20-30 human troopers facing maybe 15-20 aliens – Daleks, Cybermen, Autons, Sontarans etc. Pete |

do you want 1:1 or 1:many as a figure ratio? If you want single figures, I would suggest 5150 from TwoHourWargames. If you want to move squads, I would suggest Stargrunt2 from GZG |

Pete. Have you checked out this groups rules? They are for 28mm, but I don't see why they wouldn't work for 15mm with some minor adjustments. link Their a pretty friendly group too if your into Doctor Who.

5150 and FAD are your best bets. Someone somewhere did some lists for 5150 Dr. Who – I'm sure some googling will turn it up. |

Might I suggest my own rules, Wildfire? They're based on 15mm, and are a generic ruleset that allow you to make up your own armies. If you check out the link below you can read some reviews etc. link Cheers, EvilD |

My usual hobby horse Defiance: Vital Ground from Majestic 12 Games is eminently suitable for 15mm, assuming single miniature basing. Multifigure basing should work too, just not "out of the box". D:VG a top notch army construction system, although you do need pay to get that -- the core rules are free. The official site: mj12games.com/defiance |

Stargrunt2, Beamstrike, Laserburn, Rogue Trader (1st ed 40k) are all good low priced options. But it really comes down to what sort of play style you have in mind as to which rules set to use. All have their points, but what's right for you? |

I've seen the free Dr Who stuff, but it's a bit more detailed than I was looking for. I suppose I was looking for something with fire teams of 3 or 4 models on a single base, with a simple 'actions' system, varying defence and combat options, and a range of weapons – conventional and futuristic. Is there anything that sounds like that or do I need to write my own ? Pete |

The 3-4 models on a base makes me think of Alien Squad Leader. Kind of like DBA/Crossfire in Space. |

The basing also fits in with Hammer's Slammers and Hammer's Anvils Sci-fi combat rules. SW |

Guthroth I ahve some very rough wargames rules for Dr who and Torchwood that we are using for the SFSFW participation game. Are you considering going to Phalanx in St Helens? If so come and have a game and try out the rules |

How about the original, grandaddy of all sci-fi ground combat miniature rules, STARGUARD? Still in print, available from Reviresco: tin-soldier.com Hope this helps! Leland R. Erickson Metal Express metal-express.net |

Pete If your only going to use 20 to 30 figures, in a Skirmish game, then IMHO you would be better using them as individuals. I would endorse the recommendation for Beamstrike, which is free to download, hugely flexible and gives fast brutal games. Dedicated Web Site: link Yahoo Group: link Cheers Vulture |
