Hi All, Just sorting out the all bits and bobs for this years demo and need some recommendations flight stands. I need to support 3-6 1/72 or 1/48 plastic kit aircraft. They dont need to move vertically as they are really just eye candy for the ground forces. My intial thoughts would be clear perspex rods and stands in around 1-2 foot lengths bit wouldn't have a scooby where to get these. I've seen topgunaces stands on ebay and these are the bees knees, but maybe too much for what i need. Thoughts Neil Troop of Shewe |

I built my own: PDF link If you are using them to place aircraft over mini battle, you might want to try a tri-pod design that sweeps in and comes up under the plane. Make sure the plan can rotate. That way you can place it over a miniature battle in between the terrain bits. A wire clothes hanger might be a good place to start. |

I melted down some god-awful no-neck Foundry Napoleonics, poured a small amount onto a piece of wood, it cools so fast you get a flat-bottomed, 1/2" thick round-ish 3d blob. I drilled a hole in this, or you could bend some wire, and pour the molten metal onto it, this holds it well. If it's not big enough, pour some more over it until you get the size you want. Its very heavy, and even my 1/35 Typhoons don't fall over!!! John |

I contacted Litko Aero and they created a flight stand for me for 1/48 scale aircraft. It's a 12" acrylic plastic rod on a 6" base that is shaped like a fat three-pointed star with rounded tips so it can be placed on a variety of terrain. The cost is $13.95, I hope to have them in time for a convention game I'm running later this month. Here's their site: litkoaero.com |

Of course, I am a bit partial to the Topgun Flight Stands, but then again, we make and sell them
.. Still, they work great if you want to position your aircraft in many different flight attitudes, including inverted maneuvers. With our new Altimeter System ©, you can represent 100 different altitudes easily, while using the stands in two dimensions, and when combining them with the five antennae sections, or nine half sections, you can represent 500 – 900 levels easily. That is enough to represent 50,000 – 90,000 feet of altitude, in 100 foot increments, which is more than enough for most die-hard aerial gamers. We'd be happy to provide more info, if you are interested in our products. Best regards,

Thanks guys, i'm in two camps now
. I'm up against it so dont have to trawl the £1.00 GBP shops for the mag glass item and all online items make Topgunaces the best buy for the telescopic option at least, but then the acrylic rod is a cheaper and simpler "no thrills" alternative
. i need to ponder a while

You could always buy 2 – 4 of ours, to see how well they work. A number of people have done that, and then purchased more later. The ability to place your aircraft in any attitude desired really does add a lot more enjoyment to the visual appeal of your games. We have sold hundreds of our Flight Stands to people all over the world, and all the feedback from our customers thus far has been extremely positive. We are also having a Spring Sale right now, where if you purchase 11, you get the 12th one free, and if you purchase 22, you get 2 free ones, plus a dozen free magnets of your choice. I hope that helps you with your decision. Best regards,
