Hi,

I'm just painting up a unit of 14th Light Dragoons in the Tarleton hat. I've looked through all my uniform guides and I cannot find what colour the waist barrel sash is.

Most pictures I've seen have a red and yellow one though I did find an obscure reference (somewhere) to the 14th wearing an orange and blue barrel sash. I've painted mine like thus so.

Anyone help?

The Thin Red Line by D.S.V & B.K. Foston has an illustration of a 14th Light Dragoons Trooper with orange and blue girdle, but that's in the post 1812 uniform.

They received their orange distinctions in 1798 upon becoming the Duchess of York's Own, herself being a Hohenzollern. So I would say from then on blue and orange would be right.

Gents, many thanks for your input. It looks like they will remain in their blue and orange sash.
