Does anyone have a good set of reference on the uniform of this regiment?

Did it wear the kilt and bonnet, trews or what in the Peninsular please.

I have googled but most of there info covers Assaye or merges into the 71st who I have uniform details for.

Kilt discontinued 1809, retained bonnet

Did they go to Tartan trews or line trousers do you know?

And thankyou for the speedy response.

Line trousers for the 74th. They didn't use trews until 1846, when they resumed highland gear.

Thats brilliant thank you, looks like standard dress and stovepipe Shako, which is a pity.

Still I can give them a highland piper to mark them out as different.

Interesting that at Assaye in India, prior to the official 'de-kilting' of the 74th, the regiment seems to have already worn a regular line uniform of breeches, gaiters, redcoat and round hat. Don't know if this was a supply issue, or a practicality of climate and harsh campaigning.
