Along with being excited about the new Perry figs, I have been digging up all my ACW books and ran across this one. I have always thought this battle interesting, but I bought this title at a Nashcon not too long ago and put it on my bookshelf to gather cobwebs. After further review it is excellently written by James Arnold, whom I remember as a gamer from some articles in the Old Courier. Here is the cool thing, the pics in the book were done by the PERRY's!!! So unless there is another Alan and Michael, and there just may be, you need to pick this one up for the illustrations alone!! Also, there are real wargaming notes in the back of this one, and if I remember this was to be a selling point of the series when it was created but somehow lost in the shuffle of most books in the series.

Great, now I have to dig through my boxes to find my copy; again.

On the other hand thank you for the info, I never noticed the artists before.

I believe they illustrated a few early Osprey Campaign titles. Rorkes drift being another.

Hmm, time for a re-read.
Shiloh is my 'favourite' battle of the ACW, lots of very interesting aspects to it, and a challenge to wargame.

I have found Shiloh to be among the most difficult to wargame. There are too many trees.

Alabama, I have 50 copies of that book in my Store. New copies of Shiloh are some of the $10 USD books that I always take to conventions. I have about 9 ACW titles from Osprey that are always in the $10 USD box.

I wasn't aware that they had a Shiloh book in the Campaign series. That plus Perry illustrations will make me want to find a copy. Thanks for the tip.
