So, finally getting around to painting/doing up all the cabins that I've collected over the past year or so (25mm stuff)for my FIW guys. Question is do I keep the doors in place for the models that have them and make doors for the ones that don't or do I leave them open all together. I've thought about making some kind of doors that I can stick in place when it is "closed". I do like the idea of gun barrels sticking out windows (they've all been cut out) and doors.

So what is everyone else doing?

I think doors look great. If you can manage to make some for the buildings missing them, I think it would look better. The downside of doors is that you can't have a figure half way in unless you use paper to hindge the door.

Shoot. I thought you were going to ask about playing Doors music while playing FIW. Myself, I'd leave the doors open for just the reasons you say.

I've noticed on the Hirst Arts web site, Bruce Hirst makes doors but doesn't attach them to his doorways. He makes freestanding doors on their own bases (sometimes based on clear acetate so the base isn't visible). When the door is closed, he puts the door in the doorway. When open, he stands it up perpendicular or removes it entirely, as required for placing figures.

It has the added advantage that you can stick a free standing door up against any wall to make it look like a doorway is there.

I'd have hated for my British Major to have done to Demi what he did to her in the OFM's cabin if it hadn't have had a door.

Bruce Hirst, I thought he was a Cy Young Award winner!
