was the Avro Anson only used by the RAF for maritime recon or did it also provide recon for ground forces? say like in North Africa? look forward to your help |

Actually, tons of aircraft were used for maritime patrol: Sunderlands, B-24's, Halifaxes, Wellingtons, Beaufighters, Mosquitoes, Lancasters (?), Catalinas, Swordfish, etc., and many more not listed. |

I doubt if "Faithful Annie" saw any overland usage. The Anson was being phased out of Coastal Command when the war started, and would have been dreadfully vulnerable in land operations. Recce for the Army was initially provided by Lysanders and later by camera equipped Spitfires and Mosquitos. |

Yup the Annie was used only for maratime recce, and as a squadron utility transport. Even the Greeks didn't try it overland sorry. Fatman |
