Crashing a Typhoon by not lowering the wheels. I wonder if they take a little out of each paycheck until it is paid off?

I like how the article described the pilot: Top Gun! Not anymore, I guess!

Damon.

It looks like somebody forgot the U in GUMPS

Ouch!!!

Surely, they have some sort of warning system to try to help prevent such occurrences. No doubt, it was either ignored, or turned off.

As punishment, the pilot should be forced to fly coach back home, on a commercial jet, with multiple stops/transfers along the way.

I've never landed a plane gear up. Of course – I've never been a pilot either. Glad they were unhurt. It is like driving a car with the seat belt fastened and unfastened. It happens – rarely – but it happens.

I've never landed a plane gear up, either. But then, I've only flown Cessnas with fixed gear.

Hi

Yes there are parallel warning systems, a tonal and at last resort a recording of a woman's voice.

one problem with both systems is that they are a little stupid and go off very conservatively in inappropriate times. Thus, pilots become used to them and stop hearing.

I am sure some of you have a seat belt warning in your car that sometimes registers after your passenger has left the car because the sensor sticka a little. If you drive the car enough, you get in the habit of just not hearing it.

It won't necessarily end a career, but it'll no doubt hurt a career.

Whatisitgood4atwork01 May 2008 5:44 p.m. PST

It was a good landing. The pilot and co both walked away afterwards.

There's pics of a B1 Lancer where the crew did the same thing. $30 USD million to repair, pluys $8 USD million to repair the runway.

So had you considered another career before joining the RAF?
