Sung armies probably used no more than fire lances and hand held rockets. Kennington's Yuan and Ming are from SHQ – you have to download the catalogue. PDF link There is a pic of the figures here picture |

Song Dynasty wasn't known for rocket launches. There were 3 different types of gunpowder weapons; Firelances (which had a range of 10 yards); Fire arrows which had an explosive device on the end (larger siege ballistas {triple crossbow for example} used larger explosives); Thunder crash bombs were usually launched from trebuchets but smaller ones were thrown. The figs in the link primarily represent the Ming Dynasty. The first two, from the left, can work for Song & Yuan. I don't remember where the next two are from (I want to say Koryo but I could be mistaken). I don't recall Song or Yuan wearing hats displayed on the 5th fig. The weapon (da fu – great axe)is definetely Song era. The 6th fig looks good for Song or Yuan. The rest are Ming era, except the cavalry. |

Ok, was looking for Sung period, but probably later then. Any rocket launcher (medieval period) will do! |

Seemss like Ming is your dynasty. I don't have any of my books with me, but you may want to check the later Yuan. I can't remember if the fire arrow launchers came out during the late Yuan or early Ming. |
