Looking to convert some of the Cafe Reo volume 3 B17s into other fortresses and wanted to know if anyone knew of any available 1/144 decals available. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Eric -

I asked the same thing a couple of months ago and received this from Dave at I-94 Enterprises.

Howdy, Thanks for the inquiry. I address primarily fighters, not bombers in that scale. I can get you to fuselage insignia but not the large wing insignia, which for 17's was 70 and 75".

Largest US star/bar I have on US 114 is 40" at 1/100 scale, so 57" in 1/144. That would be an undersize wing insignia. Fuselage insignia would need to be 40-50" actual, so 28-35" at 1/100 scale. US 114 have insignia at 30,35 and 40" in both 1/100 and 1/144 scale.

If you're looking for basic insignia and lettering, I'd recommend a visit to squadron.com. While there isn't much in 1/144 decals, you should be able to use fighter decals from 1/72 models for bombers, and 1/72 has an enormous variety to choose from.

Sorry I can't be of more help. 1/144 is the orphan child of modeling scales.

I thought the idea of using 1/72 fighter decals would work pretty well and have been doing that. Here's the search for 1/72 decals at Squadron. Take u r pick.

How about Doms Decals? Not sure if he does 1/144, but I thought he recently came out with some B-17 nose art (it was probably smaller stuff though).

Worth a look?

Although they haven't released any, MYK Designs would probably be the best potential supplier for B-17 decals. MYK Designs releases alternate decals for Gashpon – the Japanese Trading toys. They have done alternate decals for several sets, including G4M Bettys. Since F-Toys just released the B-17 as a gashpon, it is possible that MYK will do alternate decals for them.

I'm going to need them too, since my planes are on order.
