What type of Regt von Knyphausen? Mollo has them as Musketeers, and I have seen them on the web as Fusiliers. Does anyone know?

Fusiliers, black facings.

Mollo shows the correct officer for the Fusilier Regiment von Knyphausen with black facings & hat. The mistake about it being a musketeer regiment comes from 1784 when the Musketeer von Donop Regiment took the name Knyphausen.
The incorrect 1784 watercolors were published with S.Smith's Battle of Trenton.

tons of info at Kronoskaf.com, but the quick answer is fusiliers for AWI. They were at Trenton I believe.

Mollo is wrong in identifying Knyphausen as a musketeer regiment. It was a fusilier regiment.
However, the officers of a fusilier regiment would not wear a fusilier cap, but the tricorne.
Thus, the picture is correct, but the caption is not. Two wrongs make a right in this case. grin

And Redhazel2 for the catch! (and John for the uniform.)

Not a lot of people actually know that, and others have made the same mistake--Ulendorf did as well in his book of Baurmeister's journal.
