I imagine this has been discussed in one of the other umpteen threads on Perry, but I can't find it.

So, anyone with experience can tell me which ranges would fit well with Perrys? Looking to add some variety to the units. Thanks.

There was a thread on this before – basically, as I recall, Foundry and Redoubt work well – I have not yet bought Perry ACW, but their ECW are compatible with both Foundry and Redoubt

Old Glory fits in well size wise.

I bought some S&S to compare with the sprues at Salute, and to be honest, I think they'd mix.

The main limitation is that the S&S are at least a mm taller, but that's largely down to their immensely chunky bases which can be sanded down.

Similarly S&S matched up against Redoubt look OK to me; Whilst the figures are a little slimmer (in particular their heads and hats are smaller), the weapons are a good size match.

(Eagle figures[1] napoleonics are good matches for Front Rank nappies. Eagle's ECW do not match Redoubt ECW {I didn't think they would but it was worth checking}. Eagle's ACW I've put somewhere where I can't find at the moment to compare with Redoubt. Is there no online database of these anywhere?)

[1] Who looked at me like I was mad while I was buying one figure from each range and I didn't really care which actual figure. And in fact, so did Old Glory when I was after "a random S&S ACW bag". Does no-one else do this?

I think the Sash and Saber figs match up the best.

Since you posted this under ACW I assume that is the range you are seeking answers to.

I do not have any of the Perry's yet but I have seen mention they match best with Sash and Saber. Which is a good thing because the S&S are great 25mm ACW figures.
And they just released their Artillery limbers with horses and riders that are works of art in my opinon.

Redoubt are excellent figures also, but I would not mix them with S&S in the same unit, Redoubt are noticably "bigger" so I think that would hold true then with the Perry ACW. But I would like to see the Perry figures in person to make that call.

Sash and Saber is a great mix; Redoubts are BIG, with chunky hands and faces. Old Glorys are just second rate.

Here is a quick shot on how Sash and Saber mix with Perry's

Those look like they are almost a dead match in size and relative quality. It may not be a good thing for my wallet that they are so close to Sash and Saber in size and relative quality. I'm not a 25mm person is this a do-able scale for medium sized battles?

Footslogger29 Apr 2008 11:00 a.m. PST

Anyone know how Renegade figures match up to the Perry plastics?

"Eagle's ACW I've put somewhere where I can't find at the moment to compare with Redoubt."

I found it; mixed in with the S&S. The clue was suddenly having nine unpainted figures in the pack.. We finally managed to pick it out because the equipment is slightly different! To all practical intents, I'd say Eagle and S&S are indistinguishable to the naked eye and that given that S&S go so well with Perry, Eagle probably should as well…

Also Eagle are currently a very nice 85p each and they're running 10% off large orders, which is a "can't argue with that" price..

Hate to ask, how do they match with Dixon Civil War?

thanks

docdennis196829 Apr 2008 3:32 p.m. PST

Nothing matches up well with Dixon!! You either like them or not! I kind of like them for some reason , but I have never thought that they should be mixed in with all the rest of the lines. They are best in units of their own, and work out well enough!

Scott MacPhee29 Apr 2008 3:39 p.m. PST

I love most of Old Glory's figures, but their ACW range left me cold. I bought a few hundred Sash and Saber and have enjoyed them much more.

If Perrys' figures match with S&S, they will not mix well with OG. The OG figures are quite a bit bigger than S&S.

FireZouave30 Apr 2008 4:05 a.m. PST

Perry's mix very well with Sash and Saber. They are the same height and overall size. Renegade and Dixon do not mix with the Perry's. They are too tall or chunky.

IMHO Old Glory are not second rate. I've got many paintd(not by me) and they are beautiful. And you can't beat the price. I think they are much better than the Perry brothers Foundry range. They look like they have been camping out for a while. I am going to mix Old Glory with my Sash and Saber. The Old Glory are slighty taller but of similar heft. And I will mix in the Perrys when they come out with metal.
