Hey All I am making my own set of Regimental rules have a question my friend raised if your charging and the unit your attacking runs because they lost a base from firing and falled morale should you be able to deny your flanks at the end of your movement? Any Help would be greatful |

"ACW 10mm Rules" The size of the figures has nothing to do with the rules. What do you mean by "deny your flanks"? |

If the situation is: you charge, the enemy retreats, the chargers halt in place or follow-up, and then want to refuse a flank company to cover their own flank
then it depends on: 1. Do you let the chargers take a normal move after their target retreats? 2. Do you let units refuse a flank company as normal movement, and how much movement does it take? I could see #1, but #2 depends on whether you think it's appropriate to the ACW. 3. If the charger is 1) starting a charge, 2) firing and causing the casualty that forces the defender to retreat, 3) moving and/or refusing a flank afterwards, and 4) being the target of a charge themselves
all in one move, then you have too much going on! ;) |

As noted, this would depend on a lot of factors. At the regimental scale refusing a company or two on the flank is not a big deal and would only take a few seconds for well-trained troops to carry out. However, refusing a flank should in no way reduce the effects of enfilade fire. It would only allow the refused stands to fire in that direction. |
