I'm working with 1/600 scale Helos and Attack Jets and am interested in knowing what others are using for their stands. I saw the Litko ones, as I order my ground forces bases from them, any opinions on these? Which ones look good with this scale of aircraft? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

I like litko and you can get different lengths on the poles.

I use the Litko bases, but 1/8"dia clear tubes. If you cut them into 2" lengths, then put a 1/16" clear dowel between them, you get a pretty easy altittude system. For the planes and helos you can use magnets (1/32"thick x 1/16" dia on the plane, 1/8"dia on the tube) to get easy interchange and storage.

This is what I use for all my 1/600 aircraft and helos. Makes gunship runs against NVA and VC look totally cool!

Topgun Marketing makes stands that uses rare earth magnets and an antenna that are great. You just put the little bitty magnet on your craft and it mates up with the magnet on the stand. Diff altitudes by pulling out the antenna. The guy's name is Rob. He is on TMP quite a bit.

Rob you out there? Want to fill this guy in on your stands?

Thanks for the plug Kimball.

I really appreciate it.

We have several options of Flight Stands for your gaming pleasure.

The first is a new product, called a Strafing Stand ©, which we use for low level flight, and/or offer for sale to people not wanting 3-D stands. They come with an altitude dial which has ten digits, so you don't need to use dice to keep track of your height. The stand and dials are made of clear acrylic material, which are circular in shape, and the height of the stand is approximately 1.25" high (the stand stalks come in two lengths for a bit of variety).

We also sell 3-D Flight Stands for gaming as well, which use a telescoping antenna with a magnet on the end, for attachment to your aircraft. To use them, you just need to epoxy a magnet onto your aircrafts' undersides, and let dry overnight. They extend from about 7" to 22" in height, and have five sections (nine half sections).

They come with a clear acrylic, hexagonal base, and a ten-sided altitude dial.

We also have a second altitude dial for use with our 3-D Flight Stands, which is a new product, and when paired with our first altitude dial, is called our Altimeter System ©. With it you can represent 500 – 900 levels of flight with our Flight Stands, by combining the dials with the antennae sections, and half sections, so you can represent 50,000 – 90,000 feet of altitude in 100 foot increments. That is usually more than enough for even the most die-hard aerial wargaming purists.

I would be happy to provide more info on our products, or a free copy of our Aerial and Coastal Forces Wargaming Catalog, if you would like that.

Just send an e-mail to the address below, and I will get right back with you.
