I'm a long-time wargamer but new to naval gaming. I've decided to start with ACW in 1/2400 since I can begin with a fairly modest investment by picking up ships from Panzerschiffe. Which rules are suitable for this scale? If possible, I'd like rules that can be used solo as well as with live opponents. [Since I seldom play dead opponents, I'm not worried about that option. ; ^ ) ] Any advise would be greatly appreciated; thanks! |

I've been doing 1/2400 using Ironclads and the expansion and just substituting inches for hexes and that would, I think, work OK for solitaire. We just started experimenting with a set called 'Floating Castles' by Chris Peers that looks promising. |

The old "Ironclads" boardgame by Yaquinto would be my suggestion. You can usually find copies on ebay. |

You could use "Hammerin' Iron" by Peter Pig. The PP miniatures are 1/600, but I decided to halve the hex sizes used for moving and shooting and go with 1/1200 scale ships. You could halve the hexes again. The rules are simple and lethal (for non-armored gunboats). |

That's a decent idea about hammerin Iron. I have them but use the Panzerschiffe ships too. I have them all painted and based. Now I have a set of rules! Thanks, John |
