Have you read "A Devil of a Whipping"?

The author's view of Cowpens differs markedly from other accounts. While I'm not sold on some of the re-enactor based conclusions about the fighting, his research into patriot militia pension records convinces me that there were way more militia present at the battle than usually stated. His studies also indicate that the Patriot losses usually listed seem to be just the Continentals.

It's easy to see why these were the only ones recorded, since the militia all scattered after the battle. Morgan did not hang out to count either, since he was busy escaping from Cornwallis.

vstaogames,

Much of Lawrence Babits conclusions about the size of the militia contingent at Cowpens was driven by the work of Dr Bobby Glmer Moss which Babits publicly and happily acknowledges in his book.

Colonel Tavington,

You can get 'A Devil of a Whipping' via Amazon UK and Amazon.com. The paperback edition is very reasonable even with postage from the US if you use Amazon.com.

The Travelling Redcoat has up-dated our blog, he asks if there is any thing anyone wants to see pictured as he has quite abit of information.

His current plan is the 37th Regiment of Foot!?
