Inspired by the Terrain Guys mat colors…

Both for your town and countryside (very few building) settings/games what color mats (or other ground) do you use of Old West Games?

Green, Brown, Tan, "Desert," "Savannah" and other color oriented words are pretty much what I am curious about.

I have a sea colored Terrain Mat (around 6? x 8?) from terrainmat.com and a green rug from Lowe's (about the same size) but neither fits very well for an Old west game in my mind.

I would want to use it for Claim Jumpers and town settings.

Suggestions?

Gracias,

Glenn

A buddy of mine runs a splendid looking "Movie Cowboy Game" on a tan cloth with some sand scattered on.

No pictures, but a link to the May 16-18 Con at which it will be played.

(He is good at posting pictures after events, so there may be some in late May.)

Hotz makes a Western Town mat.

I have the European Field and 2 Space mats. I really like them.

Dervel, that was one bloody sea battle! (I think my one crewman left from that squadron has some e'splaining to do when he gets back to England!)

(They don't like victories where you lose the entire fleet)

Now, back to topic. I am interersted in this, the "game mat" is the only thing I don't have for "Gutshot"

Depending on the size of your table, I would suggest a high thread count sheet or tablecloth and stain it. I find the surface of my felt mat to be a little 'catchy' when I go to move figures and buildings.

Whenever my GF puts on a shirt, I rub the fabric dangerously close to the booby area and ask: "Nice shirt! Is it felt?" Then I say: "It IS nowwwwwwwww!" LOL! That never fails to kill me!!

She says its "lame" and "old" but I think its clever and state of the art!

Smokey,
yes down to the last man it was. No more pirates though, makes my eyes hurt moving all those ships.

Come join me for some Blue Max action.

As religion suggests, I have found a nice canvas drop cloth with some Woodland Scenics scatter makes for a great game cloth:

Will you teach me how to play? (Like I mentored young "Grasshopper" Dervel in Wooden Ships?)

;)

And Kyote? Uh, it might be lame in Florida, but its cutting edge in 'Skogee!

:)

Lost Pic, That is perfect! Thanks! :)

I have taken a large piece of green cotton fabric and spray painted it a wide variety of different colors. I then scatter kitty liter on it and scatter lichen around it. I get a lot of compliments on the look of my TRWNN games.

Thanks,

John
