I watched the Bruce willis move, Last Man Standing the other day, and also recently ordered the Gutshot rules (but have not gotten them yet).

The movie is kind of the typical western, but the characters have automatics vice revolvers in some cases, and the tommy gun makes an appearance or two.

Can any one familiar with the Gutshot rules/mechanics tell me if they would be a suitable set for playing out a similar scenario?

Hi Jake:

They would work just fine for a "LMS" scenario. All you'd need to do is work out rules for cars but given the period, not too hard. Make them like fast wagons and you;re set.

Yep, I even plan on using them for a giant "Hlobane" scenario (it was all about getting on and off horses, and drawing/firing pistols and carbines at short range)

The "Damage/Pain" mechanics would really work well in a Hollywood gangster scenario.

So Jake, Not only are you gonna invest in Old West buildings and figs, but now you gotta get cars and gangsters!!!

LOL! You'll be lucky if the SO only uses a wimpy 9mm on you!!!!

And Jake, Email me your Address, I HAVE to get that gift box out in the mail!!!

Last Man Standing is based on Kurosawa's Yojimbo, which also spawned A Fistful of Dollars, the great Spaghetti Western, so a little tweaking seems to work well for this story.

I think if you took the Buggie stats and applied them to cars, it could work. And you might want to allow a rules variation that will be appearing in a future edition: The person riding Shotgun can actually pick up and fire a shotgun, rifle (or in your case, machine gun) in the same Action. Read the Riding Shotgun Specialty and consider the above addition.

Your book, by the way, is packaged up and ready to go.

Oh, as for the machine guns, I think you're on your own figuring out the exact stats… but here's a thought.
Treat it like a shotgun attack (roll 2d6 for one attack) and then roll 1d6 o see how many bullets hit (although I would suggest cutting down the Damage, lest you kill everyone on the table in one Action).

By the way, this sounds cool. Please keep us posted!

What's wrong with killing everyone on the table with ine action?

Oh boy- Thanks for the question, CPT Jake; We got some tentative machinegun rules out of it, and from the marshal, himself! :)

I plan on trying the Gutshot rules to play a couple pirate setting games (Sea Dogs era: 1580s.)
The rules are easily adaptable to any era IMO. Still best with the old west, of course :)

Hmmm. Now that I think of it, you might consider increasing the rate of fire to 2d6 or 3d6 with an effective arc sweep of 6-9 inches, and use the range limits for the pistol. If so, I would strongly suggest cutting the Damage down to 1-3 points per bullet.

Just stuff to think about!
