Could someone recommend a set of skirmish rules which would work well for HYW battles? Say between 50-80 figures. |

I played a set of rules called 'Retinue' quite a few years back; lots of charts, modifiers and a fair amount of record keeping, but it still seemed to produce a decent game. They were written more for skirmishes between knightly retinues and had a very 'Barons War' type, Anglocentric focus, but also included sample forces for HYW lists. Rules were written for 25mm figures, you could probably use 40mm without too much difficulty. Cheers Paul. |

WAB? Adapt it using the Warhammer skirmish rules? |

You could try Shattered Lances Skirmish. A playtest version is available from the yahoo group. By no means in a final form yet but they are designed for large scale skirmish and give a god game Retinue is one of my favourite rule sets but is more aimed at 20 – 30 a side. I have played larger games but with a stripped doen version to eliminate much of the record keeping |

Are those Retinue rules online anywhere? They sound interesting. |

A Few Good Men at Arms has a good simple skirmish set in it, can't recall the name though. Retinue with more than six a side? Urgh

There is a Medieval mod on one of the GW Lord of the Rings Historical mods Yahoo group (The reall escapes me at the moment). Also you could use Song of Blades and Heroes which cost less then 10 bucks I think for a pdf version. If you are looking at possible Solo play Montjoe from Two Hour Wargames would be good. |
