Somewhat inspired by the two Barone books- Dawn Of Empire and Empire Rising- I was wondering what figures could be used for that timeframe. We're talking about very early Sumerians and Akkadians here and I have no idea at all if there's a manufacturer that does these. Guess that 28mm or larger would make for a very nice skirmish game?

Eureka just released a range of Sumerians in 28mm, and there's another antipodean company that makes them too (Cannon Fodder or Castaway Arts, I think). The Perrys were sculpting a range of Sumerians for Foundry around the time they left. Very nice figures, but the range was never completed and might not now be available. I don't know if any of these are what you are looking for, as I haven't read the two books you mention. |

Cave paintings of Saharan herders fighting with bow and club look very similar to Sumerians. Many warriors wore a leather skull cap and all warriors wore a long hide cloak or protection. |

If you want to go with the cheap option Hat make 1/72nd plastic Sumerians. |
