Does anyone know where I can find some 1/144 MiG-19s or J-6s? I have been all over the internet. I found a site called aviapress.com with a distributor called Linden Hill Imports but neither of them answer email. The price was listed at 40,41 but didn't say if it was USD or what. Can't afford that!!!! :-) I'm looking for at least three for my wargames table. Thanks guys

Chips – that is US Dollars
. Unfortunately the Russian Project kit remains the only one I know of, and it was expensive and limited run

Thats why I gave up trying to do Vietnam airwar in that scale. Too hard to find suitable aircraft. Ended up going to 1/600 Tumbling Dice with the side benefit that I can easily play on an 4x8 table and the aircraft don't tip over nearly as much and get damaged. |

You might check to see if there are some resin ones available. I have seen a website for a 1/144th scale retailer referenced here on TMP, but can't recall the name right now. I also imagine someone will eventually produce them in plastic, since many of the other jets have been produced for Vietnam in this range. The 1/300th scale Navwar ones are decent enough, and with the appropriately based stands, can stand up to the rigors of 3-D combat on the tabletop. You'll get a lot more maneuvering room on the tabletop than with the 1/144th scale jets, and they are more impressive to look at than the 1/600th scale models (these are great if you are on a tight budget, doing large scenarios, or need a huge amount of playing room for air-to-air missile fire). Our 4" based Flight Stands are quite sturdy, being able to support even some smaller diecast metal planes at full extension, and in a 90 degree bank, e.g. the 1/72nd scale Corgi/Lledo WWI fighters, and the Corgi approximately 1/100th scale WWII fighters. Here's a web link of a guy semi-scratchbuilding a 1/144 Mig-19. It looks like he starts with parts of a 1/144 Su-22. I can't be sure because the website is written in an asian language. Good photos though: link Hopefully a kit will be made soon. |

Rob – no dice there; I presume you're thinking of Airalex, and the only MiG-19 on his site is a Russian Project kit. It's the sort of thing I could see Trumpeter releasing one day, but certainly isn't on their release list for this year, so unless someone decides to make a resin one, options remain thin to non-existent. Yes, Airalex does sound like the correct name

I sent an email to Alex a couple of days ago to see. His site just shows the Russian Project box cover for the 1/144 MiG-19, no model. Bruce Scott from Austraila reviewed the model on his site and said it was really bad & expensive. So, no-go in my 1/144 MiG-19 search so far. His other idea was to scratch one from a SU-22. My last scratch-building project taking a F-111 and making a SU-24 still looks like a modified F-111. HA!!! :-) Makes a good target though. F-111 with red stars!!!! Oh well, I'll keep practicing. Next the MiG-19 if you guys can't help me find one. Resin or plastic – doesn't matter. Thanks, K |

Hey Guys - I got a quick note back from Airalex and Alex said he would submit the 1/144 MiG-19 idea to the guy that carves his mold aircraft. He thinks it might become a reality. Wonder of wonders, you guys think we really might get an affordable 1/144 MiG-19 out there? |
