I've blogged my first thoughts – especially regarding compatibility. Suffice to say, I am very happy about these new figures!

Nice little write-up and comparison photos. Thanks!

You mentioned picking up the Touching History terrain guides. I have been temptd by the latest one (#4) which covers the ACW along with a few other wars. However, there was a thread some time back that was critical of that issue, saying it was not as focused on terrain, and spread itself too thin.

Your thoughts? I would only be interested in the ACW portion, and if the focus is mainly on AWI or other efforts, or non-terrain articles, then it would be a bust for me.

What rules did they use for their demo game, or is that a dumb question, theirs?

Seattle, the North America issue covers the period from the French and Indian Wars, though the AWI to the ACW. There are no specific buildings for any one period, rather generic buildings which can be used throughout the period. Although I too would have preferred a dedicated ACW edition, the authour does state this was his original intention, but he later decided upon a generic approach. I thought it was good enough value for what you got though.

Alabama, sorry, don't know as I didn't ever see them in action, just lined up on the field. I assume the rules were the ones from the boxed set though.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think they used these:
