I've found some 1/700 die cast WW11 ships at Tuesday Morning and was wondering it they'd work with 1/144 air craft. Would be using Top Gun Telescoping stands so the dog fights would be at a high altitude over the ships.
What do you people think?

I use 1/300 scale planes with 1/1200 scale ships. The precentage difference is about the same.

I think it looks fine, but you must have a very big area to game in.

I plan to do just that… We have used 1/200 aircraft with 1/700 ships and it looks good and I don't think the swith to 1/144 will change that…

Hmmmm………….I own a load of 1/700 WWII ships. I own 1/700, 1/600 and 1/300 aircraft. Personally, I think that 1/144 would look way too large. However, whatever works for you.

Thanks,

John

I'd like details about what you found at Tuesday Morning? I've found interesting things there before, but not gaming related.

Thanks

Glad to see you will be using our stands.

Actually, I ran an early Battle of Britain game awhile back, depicting the Luftwaffe raids on one of the British Coastal Convoys, using 1/144th scale Stukas, escorted by Me-109E's. The opposing side had Spitfires, and 1/600th scale ships, and it worked very well, and looked great on the tabletop, especially when the divebombers pushed over into the vertical.

Therefore, I see no reason why you couldn't use 1/700th scale vessels as well, since they are similar in size.

Using the two scales together just gives a bit of forced perspective of height, needed for some raids.

Good luck on the project, and feel free to let us know of additional details, and/or share photos of your dogfight, when you have the time.

Best regards,

Rob
