The Cornwall Miniature Wargames Association recently ran some pirate games using the LOTHS rules. All seemed to work pretty well, and we should have more games to come. Some photos on our site:

Yes – the games worked well. First try for the ship rules (got a few bits wrong, but overall pretty good). A couple of us had tried out some land actions previously, but the club games involved all new players without any great hitches. Had been working on 28mm Pirates for a bit, but enthusiasm has grown with the release of LOTHS. Planning some more games over the next few months (we don't stick to any particular period as you can probably tell by the other photos!).

Thanks to Tim for writing a nice ruleset for such a fascinating period, btw.

Cheers,

Danny

PS I am the original Mad Dan ;-)
