I just found this news story but it occurred in November of '07.

A C-47 that participated in the D-Day airdrops at Merville and later at Market Garden was discovered at a Bosnian airfield and is being transported to the D-Day museum at Merville.

The "SNAFU Special" was repeatedly shot up during its service career only to be repaired and put back into service.

I agree with Kle. Well Done folks. Nice to see this lady getting the love and affection she deserrves for all her years of service and sacrifice.

Good story. Merville battery is a good visit when in Normandy. The aircraft will go well with the bunkers and other displays there.
