I am planning on picking up the IDF, PLO, and Syrian figs from Mongrel. I am going to game a Mech inf platoon for the IDF and some PLO, Militia, and syrian troops in the Bekka Valley in 1982 Lebanon.

could someone direct me to the M113 isreali APC models as well as thier version of the MUTT. I am thinking 1/48 or should I go 1/56 scale? I have seen cheiftan but would also like to explore other options before fininshing my research.

Also what items would work for the Syrians?

Thanks to the generous gaming comrades on TMP for your assistance.

for the syrians you can use the Sloppy Jaloppy Bmp1, BRDM and BTR, plus FOA T55 and Chieftain T62.

Don't forget the Gaz truck and AA gun from Sloppy, the VW camper van from Chieftain and the M3 halftrack from BAM (which was used by the IDF and for which Crouchie was/is going to do a conversion kit)….I did a Bekaa Valley game last year – the photos should still be in the Mongrel yahoo groups album under 'colfers efforts'?

PS: 1/56 scale without a doubt. 1/48 would just look wrong with the Mongrel stuff!

Yes. 1/56 scale for sure!

Chieftain and Mongrel are run from the same Garden shed.
I have some more modern bits in the pipeline.

Chieftan,

Your items are wonderful!!

I am researching my scenario now and will be placing an order in the near future.

I look forward to the IDF items.

On a side note while I have you on thread, I was thinking of doing some Falklands as well. So I will likely be researching that in a month or two.

For Falklands, MoFo have the best range. Vehicles are limited in the falklands, which is a relief to many.
A few Scorpions and scimitars, and a couple of Panhard AML 90s. the best reference from the point of all in one place is the Marshall Cavendish magazine collection, Falklands War.
ebay sometimes have it for a reasonable sum
