I am looking for some basic information on a lot of different types of weapons, ammo per clip, effective range, accuracy, that sort of thing…

is there a good place to do that on-line, or a good book to get?

Thanks for any help.

Can't vouch for the accuracy, but:

Site on samll arms:
ar15.com/weaponLibrary

Site on many weapons:
link

Plus the US miilitary site has some data on weapon systems used by the US.
