Here is a list of Weird War topics on some of the WWII (WWII Discussion, 25/28mm, Aerial Discussion) and Pulp Boards front pages. I notice until the latest ruckus, not one person complained about where any of these were posted. Also, there really aren't that many of them. Creation of a specific board wouldn't make people post them there as it would become a backwater board that no one goes to, or if something is posted there, it's always crossposted elsewhere so someone interested might actually see it.

I agree with Hex. I just don't see what all the fuss is about. I've seen some stuff posted on the Modern board that wasn't strictly historical/factual and it hasn't left me looking for a thicker bar for the door – especially since the door doesn't BELONG to me. If I don't want to read the non-historical stuff, I simply don't click on the thread entitled "Zombies of the Seven Days War" and just move on.

It's easy! Even an Okie game designer can do it!

Yeah but this is TMP where somebody waits to be offended by anything around every corner!

I find your statement to be offensive.

Thank you, my work here is done!

TMP link One from Dec 2002, it seems Weird war style games have been posted here for longer then some guys are willing to admit. wink

Ditto Tango 2 111 Apr 2008 12:05 p.m. PST

Yes, but you've left out TMP link which seems to indicate there's a significant number of who don't think these topics should be in WWII.

It's not a matter of being offended or of people being militant or whatever. It's a question of where these posts belong. I personally would prefer not to see them in WWII, but I'm good either way.

You also left out TMP link where several guys suddenly discovered that weird war topics existed and showed themselves to be offended by we lesser gamers and extremely militant. wink

In the end, I expect nothing to really change as most people seem to planning to continue crossposting as normal.

Ditto Tango 2 111 Apr 2008 12:17 p.m. PST

It's nothing to do with "lesser gamers". Stop behaving so dramatically hyper sensitively.

It's a serious question – where do these belong?

GoodBye11 Apr 2008 12:22 p.m. PST

TMP should use a 2 board format; the boards should be labelled Nice and Not Nice!

Not Nice should feature a purchased account and password with a disclaimer.

Nice should be free and open.

There that solves everything.

Earl of the North11 Apr 2008 12:23 p.m. PST

TMP link talk about TMP link about the rules on crossposting, Yeah you've accused of acting badly on this topic before Ditto Bird, and never complained about anybody else involved. wink

They belong where they belonged before certain guys started screaming foul, crossposted across relevant boards.

Earl of the North11 Apr 2008 12:44 p.m. PST

I'm not getting dragged into this nonsense again, there are No rules against crossposting Weird WW2 to WW2, so i'll keep crossposting relevant stuff as I have in the past.

Earl of the North11 Apr 2008 12:46 p.m. PST

Actually i'm working on Bug War again know, so expect some more stuff on this soon wink

Earl of the North11 Apr 2008 12:47 p.m. PST

Never mix typing with beer …….terrible things happen wink

15mm and 28mm Fanatik11 Apr 2008 12:52 p.m. PST

Weird War II should have its own board. There are TMP boards on topics that are far less popular, like 'Health' or 'WWII Naval Discussion.'

Hexxenhammer11 Apr 2008 12:52 p.m. PST

I think you're just inflating your post count.

Earl of the North11 Apr 2008 12:54 p.m. PST

Maybe it can replace one of the WW2 boards (28 boards?), even if there is a Weird War II board i'd expect crossposting to continue.

Earl of the North11 Apr 2008 12:59 p.m. PST

Oh and I find everybody offensive it saves time. laugh

Martin Rapier11 Apr 2008 1:14 p.m. PST

Can I inflate my post count too?

Earl of the North11 Apr 2008 1:17 p.m. PST

Feel free. grin oh and don't forget the poll……..Vote early and often. wink

Martin Rapier11 Apr 2008 1:19 p.m. PST

Whilst I don't think WWW2 should strictly be classified as WW2, there is lots of crossover and in the absence of a dedicated WWW2 board OR just giving up on the whole zillions of boards thing, then I really can't be bothered to get worked up about it. Life is too short.

Can't we get back to Monty vs Patton or how Lend Lease was the only thing which stopped Russia surrendering?

Warbeads11 Apr 2008 1:44 p.m. PST

I thought it was Stalin and the secret police? Not to be confused with the secret TMP Cross-posting Police…

Although I find WWWII unattractive at best and dislike more boards (a 4 on a 1 to 9 rating) put it on either pulp (5 on a 1 to 9 rating) or it's own board (7 on a 1 to 9 rating) rather then a historical board set (28?! Really??!!) which rates a 3 on a 1 to 9 system.

Gracias,

Glenn

Warbeads11 Apr 2008 1:46 p.m. PST

Hey, let's offend everybody equally and forbid cross-posting! <wink>

Gracias,

Glenn

Martin Rapier11 Apr 2008 2:46 p.m. PST

Forbid cross posting?? That is crazy talk.

I never know if I'm cross posting or not in any case, and I don't care. Is there any way to tell if you are cross posting if you reply to threads? (I rarely start any).

I just treat the whole of TMP as one usenet newsgroup.

Hexxenhammer11 Apr 2008 2:52 p.m. PST

Threads are crossposted, replies are not. If you start a new thread, you choose if you want to crosspost.

chuck05 Fezian11 Apr 2008 5:26 p.m. PST

Is there someone with a gun forcing the devout WWII gamers to read all the pulp posts on the WWII board? Most of the titles are pretty clear what they are about and it takes about a nanosecend to scroll past a topic you dont like. Besides this is Bills world and pulp topices go wherever Bill thinks they should go.

Warbeads11 Apr 2008 5:38 p.m. PST

I was joking…jeez! See the <wink> above?

Gracias,

Glenn

who crossposts a little less then he used to…no, really!

CAPTAIN BEEFHEART11 Apr 2008 6:05 p.m. PST

WWII is like the 'dinosaur stage' most wargamers and amature historians pass through on their way to historical coolness.
Sure it is a rich field of study but most of the miniature supportists of this era seem to be hung on their facination about Nazi prowness on the battlefield. The core problem is that gaming is a hobby. It's about entertainment and amusement. Taking a delight about the goofy and wayward things that excite the imagination and cause us to create objects and ideas. Bottom line -go nuts- the goofier the better.

…forgive misspellings

cloudcaptain11 Apr 2008 6:28 p.m. PST

If there are too many Weird WW2 posts on those boards mayhap others should post relevant information/insights so said posts do not stand out so much.

Be happy that others are taking interest in your genre! Alternative history games are a great gateway drug. VSF knocked me off the fence in regards to colonials. Your mileage may vary.

palaeoemrus12 Apr 2008 8:50 a.m. PST

Well we could try a voluntary good-manners fueled "tagging" sytem in the header.

Weird WWII posts say "weird" in the header, and everything that doesn't have that tag is presumed to be non-weird (which would make it historical or game specific I guess).

Fair enough? That way people who dislike weird WW2 don't have to read the weird WW2 posts.

Sierra1912 Apr 2008 4:43 p.m. PST

I don't see what the problem is. WWW2 is a WW2 setting, so what's the big deal? You can (and most do to a degree) use regular run-of-the-mill WW2 figures, they are just fighting vampires, zomies, ect… People really need to lighten up, and not get so offended about encroachments on to "their turf".

Amalric12 Apr 2008 4:44 p.m. PST

palaeoemrus

Good idea. I shall try to do so next time I post some pics of non-Historical WW2 minis.
