I read with great interest some of the battle reports regarding convoys. They sounded fantastic and, the write ups almost made me feel like i was on the rolling Bridge of an escort waiting for contact info from the ASDIC. I have gamed using GQs and other rule sets mostly large fleet battles. I never even thought of a convoy Battle. with research I have since discovered that they where by far the most prolific of Naval actions in WW2.I had to contact the author Mal Wright,The man kindly supplied me with a playtest version and also the prepublication final test version. While reading them I began to understand the true impact of these rules. They read super easy and include everything you need to game convoy Battles. Covered are Merchants, Subs, Aircraft and crews. Catapult assisted merchant ships (CAM),Escort Carriers, Destroyers, Frigates, sloops, corvettes, Auxiliary warships like Mine sweepers and Mine layers pressed into service as escorts. I immediately played a solitary game to completion in under an hr tho larger multi player games last 2-4 hrs.whats the Impact you say. Manufactures may finally address the gap in escort type miniatures thus spurring sales,People are going to buy these rules good for publisher and finally great fun for you and I. Simply if your a naval gamer your going to want these rules. they should be out sometime soon keep an eye out

I have wanted to play convoy actions for years. Have played around with writing my own rules, but that has been pushed back each time I think about it. I have picked up several escort, transport and sub castings. Looking forward to seeing when these will be available. |

I'm guessing these are written by Mal Wright, who sells them and when are they available? What's the title? Regards Si |

They are still in playtest but are quite far along. Since they are a detailed variant of the General Quarters 3 ruleset, I would imagine they would come out through ODGW but you would have to ask Mal to be sure. |

My father and grandfather both sailed in convoys during the war, each making the Murmansk run twice. It interests me and since I wasn't yet a twinkle in dad's eye it really gets my attention. I look forward to the publication. |

Vtsaogames Thank them for their service if not in person by Pr are. Guys I can't say enuf about these rules. you will not belive the realism and yet it so easy to play. The bad news is that Mal and his folks play with 1/3000 Nav War ships among others where we in the States due to the weak dollar and availability will prob go with 1/2400. hopefully this will spur GHQ and C&C to produce more escort types like the Blackswan Class FF etc there are enuf models however to game this system. We all have our favorite ship Class. Anyway God Bless you all and good seas
