Good afternoon all

What figures would you use to represent Tudor English troops c. 1510-1530?

WOTR and possibly some Foundry renaissance to represent officers?

I think you would be better of using a border reivers range.

Think puffy type shirts are coming in, the archers seem less heavily armoured. Think laterr 16C figures would be better than WOTR- I just use my 15thC figures for 16thC battles- but I'm not very fussy!

Depends on where the army is…if on the continent with Fat Harry than use more modern renaissance types. If however its up North where the real battles are against the Scots than WOR figures for the majority will be just fine, with a few big nobs wearing the latest fashions.

I'd primarily like to represent the Army on the continent.

Some of the foundry marching Landknechts in coats seem perfect for yeomen of the guard (not that they were in any great numbers to be considered a unit)

Their renaissance gendarmes would suit as gentlemen pensioners.

I think I'll use Front rank WOTR open casted mtd figures as border horse, and I suppose, in the absence of suitable figures WOTR range billmen & archers would have to be used.

I think I've answered my own question again haven't I !!!!

Dixon has a Flodden 1513 range. They are 28mm (to the tops of their heads) and very automicaly (sp?) correct. (unlike other Dixon ranges) The mounted figures are smaller, so I'd pass on these.

Maybe take a look at the 1500 centuries range by Vendel?

I'd go with Dixons. The English armies were distinctive in dress. By the way, a quite muscular Henry at this time.

I found this great figure for Henry, bit late for the period but lots of character;

Dixon's Flodden stuff might be best. The Elizabethan ranges might be a bit too modern.

The Flodden forces represent that last hurrah of the feudal host when local lords took the field with their armed retainers. I think the professional army that Henry had in France would look much different than the northern levies that Howard led.
