Hi, all. I'm looking for various sources for 2-3" tall giant monsters and robots. I also don't typically do smaller scales, so I'm not sure what I should be looking at as far as human-scale things go. I'm guessing 6-10mm; but I'd also appreciate any suggestions for those type of figures as well. |

Search HobbyLink Japan for your mecha and kaiju needs! Specifically search the section on cards and collectibles – aka "gashopon" to the Japanese- for what you're looking for. Go here:

Hope this helps!

It depends on your taste – to me 6mm fits better with the bigger figures, and 1/600 from Ozdial Osmy fits better with the small figures. |

The smaller figures I use all came from Bandai, one source for these is Clawmark Toys: clawmarktoys.com |

Bandai has a set of 6-8 Godzilla types, look at KMart, WalMart or Target. Actually, the local dollar store Toy Section would be worth a once or Twice over. For Robots Mechwarrior works (infantry and Vehicles too) |

Bandai do a whole range of 3" Godzilla figures; a lot of my gaming Kaiju come from them. Plenty around on eBay once you get your searches refined. |

I'll second the recommendation for Clawmark Toys. Lots of Godzilla and related stuff, including armor and planes from the movies. I've ordered from them several times; stellar service. |

I just picked this set up at KMart (clearance) link |

Don't know if this will help with picking what scale for the humans, but here you go: Gojira's (Godzilla's) height: 1954 – 1975 is 50 meters, 1984 – 1989 is 80 meters, 1991 – 1995 is 100 meters, and currently at 80 meters. Mazinger Z (Tranzor Z): 18 meters. Mazinkaiser in the OVA series: 23 meters. Golion (Lion Voltron): 60 meters. Ultraman: 40? meters. Gundam RX78 Original Series: 18.5 meters Tetsujin 28 (Gigantor): Variable, but officially three stories tall. :) |

Try the titans from Crocodile Games. The smaller ones are perfect for this. Some of the wendigos work as well. Another option for mecha are the GW tau battlesuits. The crisis and broadsides are about 2" tall. |

This site has some great kaiju articles: link And Broadsword did a very good job of summarizing the Big-G's size over the years! In fact, his comments reminded me that I had allowed my subscription to G-Fan to lapse, so I renewed it! Thanks! Mike |

I use mostly 4" kaiju with 6mm figs. I've had great service from Clawmark Toys mentioned above. Also chibigojitoys has been very helpful. chibigojitoys.com The ToysRUs around here have the Bandai Pack Of Destruction set on sale now for $3 USD with a good assortment of 3" kaiju in it. And I use the Manda, Minya, and Mothra Larva from this set with my 4" lot. |

Thanks for the suggestions, everyone. I appreciate the info, Broadsword, though I'm not too worried about what the "official" heights might be; I'm more concerned that if Godzilla is 3" tall, the mecha around him should be about the same height, and that the little people look tiny and insignificant. At this point I may go slightly larger on the mecha and kaiju, as the single stuff I'm finding in the 2"-3" range typically seem to run for about the same price as some larger figures; though it could be I'm just looking in the wrong places. But by all means please keep the suggestions coming. |

I've got both, and my short-term plan is 6mm Humans versus my collection of 6-7 inch tall kaiju. I've bought a bunch of tanks, apcs, and infantry to make up my forces as well as civilian mobs. Eventually I will make a big 3mm or 2mm order to oppose my 2-4 inch tall Bandai and Gashapon figures. |

Battletech minis are around 1.5" – 3" tall, and some of Reaper's CAV minis might also be suitable. As for giant monsters, look at some of the Warbeasts in Privateer Press' Hordes line, or those tubs of platic dinosaurs you get in toy shops. |

The "official" heights in suitmation are only nominal. Remember it's a guy in a rubber suit. The relative height of the kaiju to buildings and people can change dramatically from scene to scene depending on how the director frames the shots employing the usual arsenal of camera tricks. You, the director of your game, should choose whatever height kaiju you think looks right with your little buildings and squishies. This is the historically accurate approach. ^-^ |

I agree with the suggestions of HLJ, Clawmark and Chibigoji. All three have served me well over the years. The Gashapon "High Grade" sets are my favorite scale. They make almost every character ever filmed for Godzilla. For Gamera, Konami made several Shokugan series (collector toys) which are very cool. They made almost every Gamera Character ever filmed. There are also available from HLJ, Clawmark and Chibigoji. Happy hunting. |
