Looks like I've overdone it again: WWI (1/144): 46 of various types (usually 1 or 2 of each) WWII(1/144): 16 of various types (2 of each) WWII(1/100): 15 (usually 3 of each type) WWI (1/72): 12 of various types (1 of each) Post WWII (1/600): 72 (3-6 each of several types) Waaay too many to list each type and number! |

About 30 1:72 Great War aeroplanes. Too fragile to play with now. Pity. About 50+ 1:144 WW2 planes. It's unlucky to know the exact numbers. |
BlackWidowPilot | 06 Apr 2008 12:40 p.m. PST |
"It's unlucky to know the exact numbers." Well in that case *moi* should be the luckiest man in the room, as I haven't taken an inventory in a number of years

And DON'T ask me about my space fighters collection for Silent Death: The Next Millennium! over five hundred at last tally and counting
and many of them bear a peculiar resemblance to Luftwaffe fighter aircraft, Regia Aeronautica aircraft, RAF Spitfires, French D520s, JAAF Hayabusas and Hiens

Planes are just an adjunct to my ground forces, WW1 – mainly 1/144th, plus some 6mm. Myabe half a dozen planes of various types. SCW – various 6mm: CR32, Ratas, SB2, early He 111, SM79. Maybe 20 odd planes? WW2 mostly 6mm, usual suspects – Typhoons, Stukas, IL-2, Me 109 and 110, plus a few 15mm planes. Moderns – mostly choppers, couple of MIG 15s, couple of Jaguars, various scales. Plus four zeppelins, three in 1/6000th scale plus the Revell mini-kit of the Hindeburg (when repainted very useful for attemtping to re-supply Von Lettow Warbecks troops in East Africa!) |

A very good question. I have about 120 1/72 scale planes that I use for the Blue Max. Here is a sampling of my stuff: link In the gaming section, you will find crash/downed planes. Enjoy. Greg P. |

Dang redmist, That is one impressive collection. John the OFM is right, its bad luck to know exactly how many aircraft you have.
I have 25 boxes with 4-10 planes in each box. A good average is probably 5-6 per box. 7 Fokker D's are on my work table right now and will be unveiled at Enfilade at the end of May along with my finished (yes I really am going to finish these some day) Salmsons. Those Canvas Eagles campaigns generated a lot of planes all the way from 1914 to the end of the war. mjc |

WW1 1/144th around 150 and growing as I find more planes and paint jobs I want to do. WW2 1/300th about 50 WW2 1/600th over 200 focused on the Pacific and with plans to get around another 300 for the other theaters. Modern 1/600th only around 50 but again with plans to expand. |

Quidveritas, Thank you for the compliment. My first love in any hobby was aircraft model building. Always stuck with 1/72 scale. Every so often per request I'll build something in another scale. I have about 30 WWI planes still unbuilt. I would like to do some of the naval stuff. Yet another project on the back burner. As you've seen on the site, I store my planes in "paper" boxes with four shelves each. |

Over 600 planes, all 1/600th. The focus is the PTO/CBI but there's a lot of Korean, Vietnam and modern era stuff, too. Mostly made up of Tumbling Dice minis, but Ozzdial Osmy stuff is starting to appear on the flight line as well. And then there's the scratchbuilts. Only a handful right now, but once I get to moldmaking and casting, that will add several more units to the collection (right now there are masters done for the C-5B, KC-135A, B-1B, B-36J, F7U-3, F6D-1, EC-121C and I am working on the B-2, B-35, RB-49, E-3, C-54, AJ-1, C-123, and Victor K.2) Corsair |

| Top Gun Ace | 08 Apr 2008 9:19 a.m. PST |
Too big to count, and sadly, most of it is unpainted. I have minis and models in 1/2400th – 1/48th scale, with most being in the 1/600th, 1/300th, and 1/144th ranges. |
| UofUman | 09 Apr 2008 8:22 a.m. PST |
Timmo, The SRAM kits are nicely cast, but step 1 is sub-ing in brass rod/wire for struts & landing gear supports. Also you have to provide pilot/gunner figures. Not any worse than most kits, but I use to put together 1/72 vacuform kits for M&M and Triplane. I haven't tried their Brisfit because I can get that plane from sources that would be easier to turn into gaming pieces. My SRAM stuff is just kits that can't be found elsewhere. |
| Timmo uk | 09 Apr 2008 8:51 a.m. PST |
Thanks – I just have this thing about the metal kits looking a little on the heavty side when compared to the plastic models ie WOW/F–Toys which have nice thin flying surfaces. I thought the odd SRAM kit may be a way around that. I would only make those I really want and that don't yet appear to be on WOW to do list. So far the Bristol Fighter, which is a favourite of mine, hasn't featured in any of the plans discussed for the range unlike the SE5a which is now probable for Series Four. Since I also only want one SRAM may be the answer though I realise its not the most simple of structures with all those struts and the location of the bottom wing. Of course as soon as I make the thing WOW will announce it in their range
Right back on topic

Most of my stuff is 1/144th WW2 – about 500+. Pretty much one of every thing made in that scale plus duplicates for gaming – such as 30 Minicraft He-111's and 18 Minicraft Ju-88's for Battle of Britain. Other planes include 20 WWI 1/72 and 18 WW2 1/200th B-17's and 50+ 1/285 WW2 minis (mostly unpainted). |

Derek – My 1/72 collection orginally was for supporting my 20mm land engagements, and just enjoying the planes. I also get into PC simulations like "Jane's Fighters Anthology" and the "IL-2 Sturmovik" series. When 21st Century brought out their WWII 1/144 planes, I began to get involved with 1/144 scale and thru that 1/144 scale has "leaked" into all my periods of air warfare. Because they are smaller, I can have more on my wargaming table. Some of us have more planes than others, that's not the deal. It is the satisfaction you get out of your collection and what you enjoy with it. I have had great games with just a single bomber trying to make a target and a couple of fighters trying to protect and defend. Don't say your collection is "not big enough".. If you enjoy it – it is big enough

Well, obviously I need an audit (has it really been that long??!) of my miniatures but here's a rough count: 1/700th stuff; 12 x B-29 (until I get enough 1/600th scale models for Korean War scenarios.) 2 x F-111 (uh, no, I don't know why – I blame Ebay.) F-14's (1 box)and Flanker clones (2 different boxes) for Air War C21 Lite demos.. F-14's and Flanker clones duplicated in 1/350 scale IIRC Oldest 1/300th stuff; singles unless stated – B-29, C-47, C-46, C-54, B-57 (I think that's title for the Canberra clone,) Panther x 4, F-84 x 4, F-80 x 4, F-86 Sabre x 9 – one is someone's lost plane from a past game, Mig-15 x 19 (2 manufacturers and they differ in size,) MiG-17 x 3, Mig-19 x4, MiG-21 x 6, Mig-23 x 2, Gnat, Meteor x 2, Hunter x 2, Mirage (model?) x 2, F-4 (model ?) x 4, F-16 x 4. and my new (and future) scale; 1/600th (TD so far, have a few O.O. 'land bound targets' in same scale) starter sets – American Navy Korea set (Banshees, Tigercats, Bearcats, Panthers, Skyraiders, F4U with Rockets, Whirlwinds,) American Air Force Korea set F-80, F-82G, F-84, F-86, Texan, Dragonfly, P-51 (rockets,) B-26,) North Korean/Chinese set (Mig-15 x 2, LA-5, Yak-9, IL2, IL2M, PE-2, TU-2,) Communist Warsaw Pact 1950s set MiG-9, Yak-23, MiG-15, Il-28, Tu-14, MiG-17, Yak-25, Hound.) Individual packs – B -29 x 3, F94B/T33, F-82E, F3D Skyknight, FJ4B Fury, C-130 Hercules. That should cover most of it
