Hi,

I just got some 1/72 plastic modern US and British soldiers and I'd like to know if there are out there some 1/72 plastic kits with something that I can field agains what I already have in a modern skirmish game.

Thanks

check out Orions set #72002 Chechens, they might fill the bill. Sorry I don't know how to post links.

Posting links is easy – just copy-paste them straight from your browser. Here is one for the Orion Chechens:

Not sure if any of these would be useful:

Yep…the Caesar minis are great. If you consider metals at some point you might want to range into Liberation 20mm figs. They have a well filled out line of conflicts.

For "Regulars" in my bad-guy armies I use Korean War NK infantry from Imex. They have PPSHs ans AK47s. They are in soft caps which give them a neat Brush-Wars feel. If you get the sets that contain US figs as well…you can paint those up as fictional African troops without much trouble. Here's a link to pics:

I've been looking for some plastics to use for fictional African armies. Any ideas?

US WW2 and Korean troops as above. The North Koreans would work too if you wanted more AKs on the field. The Caesar Urban Resisters might be handy as well. Just about any WW2 Soviet gear would be handy. Raid ebay.

I might use my Korean War US as Tamil Tigers actually. They carry a lot of Bolt Action/M1-ish rifles.

apart from what is mentioned already , you might be able to get your hands on the old ESCI , Spetznaz .
I still see plenty of these sets around and quite often on Ebay .
They make good generic bad guys with AK-47's .
I also managed to green-stuff quite a few of these to look more Taliban – ish .
Send me your PM and i'll send you some pictures of how easy it is to change them .
cheers tom

For folks with Kalashnikovs, there is always the Esci Vietcong/NVA kit (now available from Revell and Italeri):

This might provide some conversion opportunities.

Also, Vietnam US troops might work for some western mercenaries in Africa or so.

Thanks everyone for the help. Now I think I can get enough pieces for both armies…
