Wilkes Barre has a whole flock of 21st Century Zeros on the shelf, mostly the A6M2 variety, in all its lovely color variations. Yesterday, I saw an A6M3 "Hamp". This had a frosty overflow of undercoat gray unto the top green. Of course, the propellor paint job was nasty, so it could have all been poor quality control. I may grab them later, since the Hamp is in the Cy6 Guadalcanal book, but they look little different from the A6M2, and I am strapped for cash. I am immune to "Heresy!" authenticity charges when economic reality intervenes. |

I thought Wal-Mart dropped 21st Century

Did they? Could explain why my local Walmart has not had any for awhile
. Toy's R Us has a boatload however. |

The Hamp should have square, clipped wing tips. |

Mine local store has a bunch when I was there last week. I will be checking tonight when I go. |

One of my local WallyWorlds just got a shipment of the 1/144th tanks and some of the 1/48th a/c. I haven't had a chance to see what the others have. Need to get around and find out. I am hoping for an F4F sometime soon. And an Bf-109E. I can always back date the Spit. A Hurricane would be nice too. |

Everyone has a Wish List. I agree that 109s would be a nice matchup for the Spitfire in BoB livery in the "Dogfight" series. Why they have to trot every single paint job ever seen on the Me-262 is beyond me. Pair Stukas with Hurricanes next. Then, a P40 and an Oscar
I am not daft enough to ask for a Finnish Brewster Buffalo and some Soviet trash, though. |

Perhaps, but there is absolutely no difference in the packaged 21st Century A6M2 and A6M3 wings. They are identical, down to the last "recessed panel line". I only have 14 or so 1/144 Zeros in varying paint jobs, so if I pick these up, it will be only for a new paint job. Another heresy: I care not one whit for the "authenticity" of the paint job. (Well, maybe a half whit.) In fact, the more different the better, since it helps the players keep track of their planes. Better to have an Aleutians livery in a Guadalcanal game than to have someone (like me) pull the old "Oh, I was tracking damage on the wrong sheet!" trick. |

NTW, Wilkes Barre is full of Zeros. If anyone wants me to pick some up, PM me. |

Hi The A6M3 came in both the clipped variant and the standard wing. The 3 wasn't identified as a separate version because of the resemblence with the stock wing. The clip wing was thought to be a different plane and got its own code name "Hamp". There is a slight improvement in roll rate for the clipped version. Rocky |

Does anyone know what other chain or online store is selling these? I just checked my 2nd Wally World and they don't have anything but the 1/48th stuff. I still have two more to go in the area, but don't really hold out much hope as #3 never did carry the 1/144th stuff and the other one isn't a supercenter. |

Rocky: The clip wing was thought to be a different plane and got its own code name "Hamp". So if the model is identified as a Hamp, it should have the square wingtips. I have noticed that 21st Century identifies their Zeros as A6M2, A6M3 or A6M5, but the models don't show the detail differences for each sub-type. It's only a problem if it bothers you, and usually I don't let it bother me. But a Hamp needs square wingtips, or it's just another Zeke. |

We have the 1/144th Zero models in their various paint schemes for sale, as well as many other 1/144th scale models, e.g. P-40's, Me-109E's, Hurricanes, FM-2 Wildcats, F6F Hellcats, P-51D's, FW-190A's, Me-262A's, and Japanese Franks, etc. in stock. We also produce 3-D Flight Stands for use with these and 1/300th scale aircraft miniatures, for your gaming pleasure. Our Flight Stands come with swiveling heads, to permit you to place your aircraft in virtually any attitude of climbing, diving, and banking flight. Even inverted maneuvers can be represented easily. The swiveling heads permit you to make your aerial battles look much more interesting, since straight and level flight during a dogfight looks rather boring, and can also be dangerous to your pilots' health. With the integral altitude dials, you get 50 – 90 different levels of altitude that can be easily represented on the tabletop. You can even represent 150 different levels if you want to use inches for the major altitude increments, along with our ten-sided altitude dials, but that slows things down a bit, since you need to measure the height of the aircraft off the tabletop. You can add ten more levels by combining the above with out strafing bases, which are 0.75" – 1" off of the table, and also come with a ten-sided altitude dial. For a catalog of our products, just e-mail me at the address below. I hope that helps. Best regards,

Hi The japanese interally referred to them as "model 32 and model 33."(if memory serves). Nothing stops you from clipping the tip. It wasn't a different wing, it just had the little end tip part remvoed that folded up for carrier stowage and faired in and minor changes in the aeleron hinge that isn't visible at that scale. There are plenty of 21C dogfight packs of Dauntlesses and Dark green Zeroes w/stripes at our Wally World. If anyone needs them, let me know. Dauntlesses are two colors, Navy Blue in the Dogfight pack and a Blue/Gray top with gray undersides in single packs. If Walmart has stopped stocking them. Someone needs to tell 21st Century. 21st Century told me to be looking for the P47Bs & Ds at Walmart in the near future. Cheers Guys!!! |

My Walmart had the P-47 Razorback and Bubbletop the other day in the single pack. My TrU had the Zero/SBD, and when those ran out put up the Spit/262. Those are nearly gone and I'm hoping they have some other combo in the back room. Are the F6F in Navy colors, the FW 190 and the P-51 still available? |
| Chips88 | 07 May 2008 6:13 p.m. PST |
ML - The Navy blue F6F and Dark Green fighter w/yellow stripes is in a dogfight pack. My Wally world has about 6 or 8 packs of these. They have some SBDs singles blue/Gray top with gray undersides, a couple of brown camoed Spits and a FW-190 or two. P-51s are still available, you just have to find them. |
| Mikhail Lerementov | 08 May 2008 8:21 p.m. PST |
My TrU put up a dogfight pack with an SBD (Atlantic scheme) and Spit IX in Brit desert camo up to replace the other SBD/Spit pack. |
