I have been looking at playing a few games of Fairy Meat as it was a really fun game (from what I remember). The only problem is that the minis are VERY hard to come by. I was thinking of using something else instead of fairies
any suggestions. So far I've thought of putting wings on Gnoblars, or even using Winged Fezzed Monkeys from Eureka Miniatures
For Gnomes, I would like to use Gnomes from Brigade Games 'Gnome Wars' line which is apparantly around 30mm, so whatever I use needs to be smaller than that. Cheers, Ben. |

I thought that the Fairy Meat gnome "minis" were eight inches tall (didn't they recommend lawn ornaments?) Reaper has a fairy pack that contains a male and female figure but I like your winged gnoblar idea. The Moria goblin plastics would look really cool with bat wings glued on also. |

That's a cool idea with the goblins
I've got lots of those guys left over from LOTR. They could be used to mix things up a bit. :D I think that the minis were rather large and lawn ornaments were recommended somewhere, but there is a drawing of a line-up in one of the later supplements that shows relative heights of the different characters. This image suggested that fairies are around 1.75 inches high and gnomes are 2.50 inches high. This image can be found at the bottom of page 23 in Clockwork Stomp. That's what I'm going by (the relative sizing). Thanks for the suggestion. :D Cheers, Ben. |

Hmmm. A Meat substitute. Try a vegetarian store. (You can sculpt them out of tofu. They'll be squishy, but they'll go with any genre.) andy |

link has a few rather nice, though pricey, fairies. |

Freebooter does have some nice fairies, but unfortunately they are too large and too few (and too pricey) to create several warbands from. But thanks for the link. They have some very nice models. Ben. |

I personally think, no joke, the best Fairy Meay minis are these: link link link They will require some customization (repaint, add weapon), but < shrug > Major advantage? You can find then -everywhere-. |

You may have some luck with the now OOP Dreamblade miniatures from WOTC. Prepaints, yes, but the detail is nice and if repainted and rebased they look pretty nice. All kinds of strange themes to choose from, and I do believe a handful of them are similar to what you need. As for finding them, sites such as Cardhaus and Troll and Toad that sell singles are the best. Jason |

Also, these: link link link They are the same scale as the 'winx club' and 'polly doll' mini-doll line as well, so: lots of room for customization

Wood elves from GW would work. You could even use the old Titania miniature, or whatever she was called. |

I went to Big Lots, found a kids' pack of plastic butterflies, cut off the wings, and add them to whatever figures I want to use. They really look decent, although I do like the Disney figures too. May have to get some. |

The official miniatures aren't as big as everyone on this post seems to think they are (having just bought some). Eyeballing them, I'd say the tall skinny ones stand around 35mm tall
and the smaller ones are right around 28mm tall. Definitely NOT lawn ornament size. Other 28-30mm figures with suitable wings would fit size ways (perhaps not style wise though). Places you can find the silly things: link has one Elvariel Guard left (which is a Lunar Guard Fairy Meat miniature). link has a couple of clock fairies and a gnome in stock. link has a bunch of stuff in their catalog (but about 1/2 of it comes up out of stock when you try to check out though). link Also has a bunch of stuff
but is gawd aweful expensive (even before adding shipping from the UK). Of course, there's always e-bay. Keep in mind, the Hackmaster Elvariel miniatures were repackaged Fairy Meat miniatures. They tend to sell for a smidge over retail on e-bay. Hope this helps! |

As an aside, I think Reaper let's you buy Fairy wings separately (using their Bone Yard service
although I can't get the page to load right now
so I can't check). They also have a few Fairies in their line as well. I like this one: link |

The Gnomes are 3-4 inches tall and weigh about a pound. You can use smaller ceramic lawn gnomes as proxies. Acheson Creations make fantastic mushrooms that are about twice the height of a 28mm fig or so: link
I've heard of people using the Schleich Smurf figures for Fairy Meat. Many of them are armed: happyhentoys.com/smurfs.html |

Thanks for the suggestions guys! Much appreciated. Looks like I've got some work to do with all these options. :D Cheers, Ben. |

Found these while surfing for oddball stuff. They should work great considering the size: mcphee.com/items/11837.html Not too shabby for 36. Easy conversion in plastic. |

and then drop a Sky Diving Sigmund Freud into the game to really mess things up
